Tone deaf?

ATT biz just sent out list of “leadership” departures. Within it are 31 paragraphs of atta boys, look what I dids, including quotes from other executives Fellat’n one another - with lines such as “Rick looks forward to traveling with his family”

This is beyond gross and tone deaf. Each one of these individuals are leaving with millions while the org will be sending thousands of others to the bread line. These poor souls are no less important but their stories wont be shared via email to the org reminding us of their accomplishments, nor receive million dollar parachutes.

This at a time when every town hall begins with a compulsory 10 minute soliloquy on social justice - they continue to play faux brave during the worst job market in our lifetimes.

Zero courage.
Zero leadership.

The difference in the way that senior management and L1-L2 are treated is pretty obvious at AT&T. Just remember, everyone is equal at AT&T. It' s just that some folks are more equal than others. It's the AT&T way, always has been, and always will be until the rot at upper management is cleaned out.

Interestingly, none of these new 'leadership' retirement announcements indicate the effective date. They don't say when they are actually leaving. One of the comments during the Q&A yesterday was why front line is getting 14 days before being kicked out, while a lot of the SVP retirements are working through the end of the year. Their answer was: Well, they have projects to complete and helping us transform the business.

AT&T's solution: don't include the effective dates in the executive announcements anymore. Good job! Way to be transparent and protect those golden chutes. /s

I just deleted it without reading it. The real talented people who actually get things done are the workforce.

They always want to spend more time with their families. What a bunch of BS. Unless they're talking about the new family - you know, the one with the younger model that they found after dumping the original one. Oh, baby!

I've never heard of any of these people. I know hundreds if not thousands of people at T, most of whom have made an impact. How is it possible to work for a company for FORTY YEARS, reach the levels of some of these people, and literally leave no impression on those you leave behind? You have had so little impact that your boss has to describe you to those left behind in their wake?

Retirement after 40 years of service should become mandatory. I am sure these people don’t have any mortgages or tuitions to pay anymore. Just leave already.

Exactly!! Working level folks which will be surplussed will receive no acknowledgments for their years of accomplishments. They will just be kicked to the curb and shunned away.
