@lrh+15w4LhEY I was 21 months from "full retirement". When the MVO came around in 2016, I took it. It helped me make the decision to bail.

There is no severance "offer".
There are severance plans in place for both bargained for and non bargained for (management).
Severance for bargained for is spelled out in their respective contracts. Severance for management is spelled out in the management severance plan, which you can review on HR One Stop. There is no "special" severance "offer" that has been extended.
There is also no MVO (management voluntary offer) that has been extended this time around, and it sounds like there will not be one at all this year.
That said, understand that in the recent past, this has not been some kind of special or enhanced offer that gave some kind of financial incentive to leave. You could simply volunteer to leave, and you may or may not be selected. If selected, you were eligible for your severance per the severance plan (nothing else). Same as if you were selected fur surplus. So there was no real incentive to volunteer, unless you planned on leaving anyway.
People keep using the antiquated term "buyout" on here. There has been no "buyout" for 15 years or so.
The offer is for core employees, Service techs, facility techs, outside plant technicians etc. wire techs will get a $5,000 incentive to volunteer starting July 1st
@nyk If they offered a decent package, I know of many employees that are close to retirement that would leave. But they won't do that, why should they, they don't have to. Verizon offered a decent package for employees a while back, for employees with x number of years service.
All I know is that if T offered me $50k extra besides the normal "severance", I would be first in line to leave this miserable $hithole. But they won't! Why would they when they can rebadge me for $0 cost?
If they would offer the $50K plus normal severance pay they might be surprised how many would go, and not just older employees. There are many younger employees here who realize there is no long term future with this company that could use a little incentive to move on.
For non union workers the typical severance is 2 weeks pod for each year you serve. The max payout is 6 months.
The offer is the standard SIPP $33k plus an extra $50k.
6&6 plus 1000 a month till social security... cleaning house... Verizon next and then bye-bye CWA and hello high stock prices
There are very few folks left, that would take the offer. A lot of folks w/skills, took the voluntarily separation over the past years. And whatever you get, the gov is going to take 38%. Do the math.
Please describe the severance offer you are referring to. Nothing like that being offered to non-union employees. Are you referring to the SIPP offered to some union employees?
Who are they making this offer to? What does it include?
