From what I can see, there were layoffs yesterday but it was limited to a few people here and there. Not sure what to make of that... Is that how they plan to do this entire layoffs round? Small groups of select people over several weeks or even months? Or not? I admit I'm confused.

A few? I heard it was massive. Could be depending on the SBG where there is still money to be milked. AERO will be having a massive slash just after having one like a month ago. And, this time its worst than the last one.
Could be better to just sell off the whole division instead of slowly bleeding the very life that created this organisation.
It was more than a few here and there. I got the 26 weeks, but I was really not ready to go. I'm grateful for the 26 weeks as I have many friends who got the min of 4 weeks severeance. To those left, try your best to make a plan. This is far from over and the recovery will be several years.
It already is
End of quarter is what really matters to them.
For those with 26 weeks severance, that gets them to 12/25. If they are let go next week. Merry Christmas. Next week is also the end of a pay period. Not sure if that makes any difference or not.
Apparently, laying off 40% of the workforce is more complicated than we thought. They will act swiftly as they perfect their RIF protocols.
WARN may not apply during the pandemic because they will be able to argue that "there is no way they could have foreseen the need to do a mass layoff 60 days ago" due to the current economic volatility. The slow drip is absolutely a power play to keep people on their toes.
The slow drip approach mostly helps them avoid official or legally required announcements or protocols in different jurisdictions.
Also keeping people in the dark, they think, minimizes the disruption and keeps people in more easily controlled, separate bubbles
Bucharest closure does not apply to all SBGs.
They closed the Bucharest office all together? Seems pretty unusual for Honeywell.
UOP 550 people worldwide. Not a few here or there.
Entire Bucharest office closes.
It's so they don't have to report it with a WARN notice. The slow-bleed method. Creepy.
I can't imagine they would want to drag this into Q3, or that they would want to pay holiday pay for employees who will be riffed, but I guess I don't know for certain
Not sure but if they do it will be a completely miserable environment
