Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

“Support and administrative functions have never worked like a teleworker has

as we made that shift during COVID we’ve learned we are pretty good at this and in fact maybe we don’t need to return back to the way we did work..... I suspect we will always be looking to adjust how the teams are structured, where the teams are located and how much resource is required to support the growth products of the business”

“Today, something close to the tune of 90% of management work force is working from home.... we will never return 100% to the office... that 6% pre-COVID might look more like 50% after COVID”

“Don’t think of this as applying to administrative or knowledge based workers... Your going to see home based dispatch and home based work”

In other words... the engagement zone/collaboration project just took a U-turn. It’s sad it took a Pandemic to show leadership the majority of employees can work from home, stay productive and save the corporation money.

I work in M&E and we were told we're not going back this year. Was also told that production actually went up since WFH began. If WFH becomes permanent, I'm moving back to Florida where it's cheaper than here in LA. I'll miss the weather, that's about it.

This was Donovan’s doing and all the people he had groomed in ATO. Glad to see the demise of Tech Dev and all the VP variety clowns that just sit there and approve things.

The gall of these id–ts to act like they just discovered telecommuting. Groups of us were doing this 25 years ago and keeping the company running through blizzards and hurricanes without missing a beat. We've had to fight hammer and tongs as these dolts repeatedly tried to take that away. And now they say "look what we found".

How in the world can these offices ever be made "safe" from COVID? It's impossible.

So correct!!! Year ago mass layoffs due to collaboration zone. We lost very productive employees because they weren't near one meanwhile kept complete f@#$offs who don't work because they are in a tier 1 collaboration zone. Thanks, McElfresh. Then told by McE that didn't get all of our bonus because 'we' didn't work hard enough to reach company goals. Now we're back to working remote – meanwhile losing extremely valuable employees and left with some major dead weight whom it didn't matter where they 'worked' from because they never WORKED. . . . What a piece of garbage this has all been!

Telework = improved efficiency, time for Marachel to retire. She insisted working in the office is only way to increase efficiency and support the speed of change in the business. Karma is a b–ch, deal with it.

Two years ago Jeffy told us that our development model wouldn't work unless we were all in the office collaborating with our colleagues (spread out around the globe). This was the rationalization for mass layoffs back then.

These guys have the attention span of a Chihuahua at a carnival. If Stankey or McElfresh worked at Google (or any non-Dysfunctional company really) they'd be fired for incompetence if they ever got anywhere above Director level.
