Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Huge CST surplus Ibew 21

176 CST’s (I&R techs) surplused in Illinois. Represents over 20% of the remaining workforce in their jurisdiction. Incentive of 50k plus SIPP offered to equal 80,500. Future looks bleak.

It is being offered across all core titles. If your 62 this year as I am.....its the LARGEST amount ever offered to craft 80k plus vacation pay.....I'M GONE! Lump went up 100k last year and is up 6% this year. You can defer your lump and collect the increase!!IBEW 21 tells you NOTHING....not even that they had been negotiating for WEEKS without letting the membership know! I mean we just pay there salaries why do they need to tell us?

May want to double-check that offer...for the SE, it's the CASH VALUE of SIPP(NOT THE BENEFITS) WERE IT BEING OFFERED + $50K.... haven't seen your offer, just giving a heads up

80 thousand doesn't sound like much, especially after it's taxed. In District 9, CWA negotiated much larger layoff sums, they don't have SIPP. I'm hoping layoffs will be few in district 9 because AT&T will balk at paying the much higher amounts. Make sure you are "downsized" as opposed to "retired" on final papers so you can apply for unemployment. The union should be telling you this.

Why not offer that enhancement across all core titles and backfill accordingly.
