Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

4,700. CWA statement says 3,400 tech and clerical in addition to 1,300 retail this is the statement everybody else is reporting off of.

I agree with the original poster...some sites seem to imply the 1300 store workers are included in the 3400 count and others don't.

@oxh+15vMBuRE Can YOU read? Many of the articles, including Forbes, clearly say a total of 3400, of which 1300 will be related to AT&T and Cricket Wireless retail store closures, while the remaining layoffs will affect technical and clerical workers.

The real numbers, I am afraid, are in the 30K range..hope I am wrong

I think the c suite will guard that number the best they can. Chow org will reduce by 4,000 and I’m not sure that would be part on any of the 7,000 called out in the news.

The 4700 is confirmed sum of 3400 (number of occupational) + 1300 (cricket store closings)
Everything above that is conjecture as of today we may know more.

Don’t believe everything you read, remember the 7,000 hard hat jobs after the billions in tax breaks and that was before being awarded the Government first net contract. These leaders are disingenuous at best.

It was my understanding that those numbers were just related to the store closings and related admin staff. That has nothing to do with the rest of the company layoffs.

It is surprising, I expected a much larger number for technicians.

Can you read ? Or add ? The articles clearly say it's 3400 technicians and clerical workers plus 1300 retail workers. 3400 plus 1300 equals 4700.

Sadly, one thing they all agree on is that this is just the beginning.
