Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

John Stankey Wants To Have A Conversation

about justice and fairness. Now that he's part of the woke crowd, Stankey believes we should all reach deep into our hearts and talk compassion toward those that our struggling in these trying times.

Unfortunately, the actions of DeathStar leadership do not match their woke verbiage. Our previous failure of a CEO is being paid $250,000 per month for life during his golden retirement. While the rest of us are left in anxiety every day wondering if we will be one of the thousands who will get the ax this year.

Those that are spared separation from their livelihoods will have to deal with ever increasing work and stress loads and usually poor health resulting from spending every day in this toxic work environment.

Where is the justice? Where is the fairness? The blatant hypocrisy of this leadership is sickening.

"He needs young educated people in cities because that's who will get the service and that's who has the money. "

But if they're educated they should see it's a pretty c-appy deal and if they're young they probably don't have the money so

@yyz asked why all the fuss with BLM etc?

PR. AT&T is trying desperately to appeal to not only a younger demographic, but the demographic they need in order to sell their new streaming service.

Old conservative white folks living in rural areas hate the idea of BLM, LGBTQ rights, etc. But those people aren't who Stankhole needs. He needs young educated people in cities because that's who will get the service and that's who has the money.

It's a charade meant to connect and seem hip. It's also cynical and transparent and belittles the reasons why these causes started in the first place.

In other words, it's the AT&T way.

"I retired in 2019 and am so glad I’m outta there."

Yet you're still here, like a dude that still stalks the girlfriend that dumped him.

ATT is living rent free in your noggin. Let it go.

focus in [sic] Meritocracy before we fall behind the rest of the world

I feel like in many ways we already have and just didn't notice it yet. Quantifiably my children is learning less than I did just 20 years ago in the same public schools at the equivalent point in their education tracks. They may be "digital natives" but none of them understand technology at all beyond apps.

Don't forget Randy's speech to employees in North Carolina a few years ago when he let them know that Black Lives, do, in fact, Matter. Apparently he was on the fence about that until a black surgeon that is a member of his church broke it down for him.

Randy has become quite the king of public stunts.

Remember when he took a fake robocall while speaking to the press a couple years ago, then joked "Look, it even happens to me!"? MmmKay Randy (you little rascal!), yeah I'm SURE that you would look down and answer you phone if it rang during a speech.

Remember when it was found out, months after the fact, that the company had paid Michael Cohen hundreds of thousands of dollars in "Consulting Fees"? Boy, Ol' Randy was APPALLED, and let us know that AT&T would NEVER stand for anything like that (at least not when they get caught).

Remember when he made a big deal about how the Trump Tax Cuts were going to create thousands of new jobs at AT&T - and promised (very publically) that if it passed everyone working for AT&T would get a $1,000 bonus? Well, sorta....the company has cut over 50,000 jobs since that time (and we aren't done!!), but we DID get that PHAT $1,000 bonus right? Well, kinda - it was basically just money removed from the next year's bonus payout. So, no not really.

Gee RandyStank - I can't wait to see if you can keep a straight face when you do your annual "Workplace Ethics" talk this year. It'll be pre-recorded, so maybe you can get it right after a few takes - something that is apparently beyond the capabilities of McElfresh.

My God, how is this company run so poorly.

It was mentioned that HR is adjusting lists based on demographics, etc... Yes, I can guarantee you that almost no 'blacks' are being surplused out, it's primarily white, and off-whites, but not African-Americans. Want to know if Im telling the truth, starting in the year 2021, if you can. or contact someone left standing to go take a walk about the AT&T campus, and notice how not-white the employee base will have transformed. They may even build a special trophy showcase to make publicly visible all their diversity plaques, trophies and honorable mentions. The company will continue to slide down the tubes.

So basically, if you're white, you should a: a) self-hating, b) self-loathing American, and c), to self-depreciate yourself to your perceived enemies and others of you, and then d) go seek out people of color (racist much?)and tell them you're sorry for not making bad decisions, being a good steward of your money, and that they are not privileged like you, even though you’re not. In short, lie to yourself, lie to others, but only if you're white to non-whites. Sounds like the Mr. Stankey is a racist encouraging racism of those dumb and ignorant enough to buy into his special brand of b4ll$h!t hoping you’ll ruin yourself based on the fleeting fictitious lie and hoax of the day. No thanks, I won’t be playing the game of how to be a ‘useful id–t’.

Affirmative Action and Diversity have been a focus for over 50 years . There has been little improvement for blacks as they make no effort and often fund them in jobs over their heads. We need to end Affirmative Action and diversity and focus in Meritocracy before we fall behind the rest of the world. After 8 years of Obama and blacks still are complaining so there is no solution but focusing on Meritocracy. I blocked emails from that Corey whatever in HR..... tired of this focus while we layoff thousands

One of the reasons they’re delaying the announcement is that they are looking at the lay-off lists against demographic data and making adjustments. They are being very deliberate about it and the daily equality and injustice emails telegraph why.

"Blacks are 15% of the population. How can they request a company to hire more than 15% blacks? Let's say we have a set of companies, C = {Company1, Company2, ... , CompanyN} and they each hire > 15% blacks."

This is a problem with how people think. Who cares what race, color, ect (dont want to miss anyone) they are, as long as they are good workers, and good people.

Yeah. I’ve really enjoyed the uncertainty the last few weeks. My favorite part is when they say they’re going to make cuts, but 3 weeks later, and nothing. I really enjoy the 2 emails I receive every day in regards to racial inequality. Those emails make me feel so much better and so much prouder to work here. Take care of your people inside you stupid f—s before you start a BLM movement outside. F— you AT&T. F— you.

It sure does feel like a war on white people.

Blacks are 15% of the population. How can they request a company to hire more than 15% blacks? Let's say we have a set of companies, C = {Company1, Company2, ... , CompanyN} and they each hire > 15% blacks. That leaves companies outside the set C as having to hire 15% blacks. Does that make them racist? That's also assuming perfect distribution of blacks across the entire talent pool. Which is impossible in say, engineering which is made up mostly of whites and asians.

People don't think about this sh– but instead act on emotional and illogical impulses to demand things that cannot be done. It's purely a political kafka trap.

Remember how they insisted we all come in to the office? NO TELECOMMUTING!!!

Then the next week, they HAD to allow it.

The following week, we started getting all the news letters from our newly-expert leadership about the minutia of COVID-19 and how it affects us, things we had been telling them for weeks, while they continued to force us to infect one another.

Same thing here. They're going to continue to lay off blacks as well as whites as in previous layoffs, but they'll tell the whites that their job went to a black person, just to keep the heat off the person doing the firing and deflect it onto a group they can blame instead.

They did it with women in previous layoffs, telling men that they had to lay them off to give their job to a woman, which permanently soured the guys on their female workers in general, without the actual proportions of men to women changing at all... ...it was just a way for the person doing the firing to deflect the blame onto "others."

The minute you do any layoffs, you might as well lay off the whole impacted group swiftly because everybody forgets about the customer and worries about their job security. And if you really want to k–l morale continue having layoffs every two months for the next year. It is a known fact that the majority of companies that go through continual layoffs are never the same. They don't recover because trust is broken. And if you're not honest at the point where you're breaking trust anyway, you will never recover. Deflection also does not work as it only preserves self-concept as the population sees right through it so it is best to be humble and lay low if at the helm/.
