Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

We are stuck with this for months?

Did I get it right that somebody in the know said yesterday notifications will take place this week, this month, and even after that? So now we are stuck with this nerve-wrecking suspense for months?

Well, I guess AT&T never fails to disappoint in its c-appy treatment of employees and complete disregard of our feelings and well-being...

yes, this is your fate. a slow death, day after day, month after month, year after year, just like life itself. you began dying the day you were born, and you began the path to no att job the day you started at the company. in the overall universe of time and space, all of this means absolutely zero. have a good day (and keep working really hard at att)

From this site it was posted that retail store workers and managers did get hit yesterday with store closings
And union tech workerkers got surplus numbers with a voluntary offer.
So it's happening, just not all at once. As AT&T loses customers and revenue and Randy's billions of dollar debt comes due expect more of this. It's going to be a slow death like Sears.

The HR rep on Ann Chows call yesterday said happening already, this week, next month, and in the future. So yes on going.

In ATO, we were told that layoffs would be announced 6/15, with those laid off off payroll 7/1.

6/15 comes around, and we're told that layoffs will happen "throughout July" and beyond.

Near as I can figure, the uppermost layers of executive management had very unrealistic ideas about just how close to the bone could be cut on Monday without k–ling the cash cow, and the middle layers of executive management froze, being unable to implement.

6/17, Jeff McElfresh is going to give another of those Coronavirus/BLM/the_business_is_in_challenging_times talks, with 6/18 being for rebroadcast and pre-submitted questions to be curated and "answered" with vague business-speak that insists that "most of us" will be just fine, but you should always expect that you can be suddenly laid off at any time, no, we won't say when, where, or how many.

Watch more executive management Town Halls (that count as work for the speakers, despite a distinct lack of focus much less information) to glean whatever clues you can from our uncertainty.

Executive management is distinguished from the bulk of "managers" who don't actually manage any people, in fact, their jobs are very similar to craft jobs. However, because the company gives their job a "manager" title, the union isn't allowed to cover that job. This is a trick to try to separate us, to keep us weak.
