I can't help but think that all that money the board gave Randall, the author of our good fortune, and the millions going to retiring leadership, could have helped mitigate some of this mess.

Yes, and I remember when satellite was a superior method to distribute video. Our illustrious "leadership" says whatever fits their current plan. Do they think we believe them anymore? What the Akard clown patrol doesn't say is that this is misleading. Do they plan to put enough towers and radios on enough spectrum to give most customers higher speeds than they had with vdsl? Do they think wireless means not having to fiber up the footprint despite the pious promises made to the FCC? Given the sleaze and disarray that characterizes AT&T executive decision making I don't have high hopes for a happy customer.

So now everyone will be on conference calls talking about layoffs for the next month or so instead of moving their work forward. Just sad.
"this is the hardest thing we have to do in business..." is generating new revenue, they should lose sleep over that. Laying off employees will not bring any new customers or new revenue stream.
Really skirted around the question about these cuts coming ad nauseum quarter after quarter. It sounded like no cuts for June in NEO, but watch out for July. So, after all that talk about cuts and getting people off the payroll by the end of June with two weeks notice.....well...looks like they Keystone Copped that too.
Correct if I'm wrong, but what I just heard was the company is going back to its roots to focus on service (core) at the same time they are looking to shrink the headcount (core)... And there wasn't a shedding of leadership #'s, just a reshuffle and add of layers (damn fuzzy math!)
Oh and managers be prepared for July to come.. No MVO because sometime back in whenever HR said they finished up on one.. Guess Mair, Sanbar, and the ilk lost that battle or were just giving lip service at the beginning of the year...

Stability based on cutting cost is unsustainable. Near zero revenue growth, losing significant customer base, lack of competitive products and pricing are far bigger factors than cost. Penny wise and million dollars foolish, that is where we are at.
