Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

UOP layoffs next week?

I am based in Des Plaines and I have a “mandatory meeting” with a VP on Monday (scheduled Friday afternoon) pretty sure I am getting rifed.
Anybody else?

Everyone attend meetings this week for UOP about signing up for voluntary separation? Not offering anything special so why do it? Why not just wait it out? Names have already been given for involuntary. What's the point of walking early? If they had sweetened the offer with healthcare etc maybe. I get being fed up but...

Got RIFed yesterday as expected and last day will be Friday. Now I am relaxed and started to send out my resume. Don’t work anymore but just check my stock account which is doing really well. My manager and his boss had no inputs on this. I heard 7 people RIFed already in Engineering. There must be more I don’t know yet. I had a great time at UOP and wish everyone all the best!

I was laid off too. I see a death spiral coming based on who was laid off.

There were many RIF'd yesterday at Des Plaines and accross several manufacturing sites. In my opinion, some of these reductions will be very hard to overcome if and when things return to normal. Many had decades long experience. Thanks to all who have posted here offering guidiance and next steps forward. The RIF included me!

DesPlaines UOP people took pay cuts and had their vacation time (grade 4 up) made non earned ( use it or loose it) you lost a holiday to I’m told. The picnic will disappear next and pay toilets can’t be far behind...

Laid off today exactly as described by others. It s—s, but I had a good job while it lasted so I can't be too upset.

As a retired UOP employee from DesPlaines I can tell you the is no bright future for anyone at UOP. I’ve been getting text messages all day from people who got fired today. First it was “Quality” that went out the window, replaced by “Schedule” and shortly there after “Profits” became the company buzz-word. UOP was a great company at one time before the assimilation into Honeywell and “Loyalty” made it that way. Take what positive things you learned there and take them ANYWHERE else and you will be successful. Those two street corners would be better served by a bowling alley and a Taco Bell.

HR shows up not to answer questions only to ensure the manager follows the script. Buckle up its going to be an ugly week.

Thank you for the information. I figure they are getting me tomorrow. If only 10 days I hope they mail it out quickly. I thought the review period would much longer.

@dbv
For me, I was allowed 10 days to review and sign the severance agreement. Severance checks will post to your account once your signed severance has been processed. I have heard that processing the severance agreements has varied wildly. For me, it took almost 2 weeks after I signed the severance agreement for HR to sign off and process it because they were on furlough and also had a lot of agreements to process.

Does anyone know how long you get to review and sign the severance package? I assume severarance starts when HR recieves the signed documents?

Here's the web link to access your Fidelity 401k account from home after leaving Honeywell if you don't already use it. You need to register as a new user. The access through the HR Direct login with your Honeywell ID will no longer work when they RIF you.

(OP here) Thanks for the support and advice. Yes, I cleaned my computer yesterday.
I am in sales support in one of the groups that are being combined as part of the reorg.

If you think you will be RIF'd this week, use today to clean out your computer and remove all personal information and pictures. Download your contacts. Get the web addresses and phone numbers for the benefits hotline and any other benefit centers you need, as you won't have access if they RIF you. Good luck.

Me too! Got a meeting with a senior director on Monday. Joined UOP 9 months ago. It was definitely a bad timing to join UOP. Had first furlough and will likely have first lay-off in my 12 years career. Started to polish my resume already over weekend.

UOP employee here. I got the same thing. Sent out Friday afternoon. Subject is re-org. No HR ,
just my manager. I was thinking maybe it was something else, but I guess I'm history.

HR is never invited. They just show up during the call. They make the manager do the dirty work.

I am also based in Des Plaines and received the same invite on Friday afternoon for early Monday morning. The meeting is scheduled for half an hour with my manager. It’s been a rough weekend as I’m trying to come to terms with the inevitable; however, this could turn out to be a blessing in disguise in the long run! Hang in there, you will get through this!!

That's messed up to schedule it on a Friday so you can worry about it all weekend. Good luck.

Same thing happened to me at UOP and I got RIFed. Make your peace with it. There is no good future there for anyone. This is a chance for you to find a place where you can grow.

Thanks! The invitation only shows me, but who knows if HR or others will show up.
My manager also has one (at a different time)
