Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

3,700 targeted jobs marked for elimination.

  • Cuts are staggered throughout 2020, beginning in August.
  • C-level anticipates major voluntary turnover which will mitigate severance costs.
  • Real estate expenses being cut aprx 75%, with 14 regional HQ shrunk to Four, and 1 Allstate NJ.
  • Business-area leadership knows which divisions & roles within their respective departments, but cross-enterprise is NTN with most of us not needing to know.

Interesting times...

  • All Officer/C level and Field VP required to sign NDAs.

Consensus is HO HR, Finance, Ops is severely impacted, with Regional operations having already made cuts in mid-to-late 2019. Region Departments will see cuts, including drastic cuts to the Field Sales model.

Stay tuned...

Looks like the HQs are the four zones referred to in today's email?

The last lay off in Auto a few years ago had nothing to do with performance. Top performers were let go.

Would newer employees be the first to go even though I have co workers making twice as much than me because of seniority?

The Irish News confirms there’s a 8% number for the lay-off which would be 3,700 employees. They plan on cutting more expensive regional markets.

All - the post is BS. The person who wrote it (on another thread, no less) has told me so. Cuts coming, but the top has been pretty tight-lipped.

Good luck to all. Sorry on behalf of a friend for the sensationalism.

So if it’s 1 NJ office, which one would it be? Bridgewater or Moorestown? There are definitely redundancies between the two. I know my position could easily be automated.

Looks like its time to cut the fat off again. No sense to keep employees who can not perform & meet the company numbers. If your paid to do a job, it’s best to do it & at least meet the company standard for that position. If not your getting cut & cant blame anyone else but yourself for not meeting your job performance.....

The call said it would start last of June and beginning of July?. Then the majority by end of September. Is that what everyone heard? When word comes in will workers leave immediately? Will they offer early retirement ?

People first..i have not seen it this year. Hundreds of jobs have been outsourced to non allstate employees not in the United States. I just wish they would just be truly transparent instead of employees playing a guessing game. Especially during this time of concern due to the pandemic at hand.

I was literally just laid off from my position at Allstate (my whole site was shut down to cut costs) and was hired for a different position. Now, they announce this... yikes.

Be the best you can be. As my lead said, "don't pre-stress." Allstate is a great company that always puts it's employees first. I'm no Spring chicken with the company I love, and this is fact! People first!

Does anyone know how it’s going to be decided? Is it merit based off of our last review? Seniority?

I heard Tom Wilson state the thousands of layoffs in the summer on the call yesterday. That’s pretty verified to me. The only questions remaining is who is getting the axe and how soon. It was live on Allstate TV.

Typical Allstate about every 15 years! They’re also denying homeowners storm claims like crazy too!

None of this is verifiable. While drastic cuts are going to happen none of the detail the OP posted is verified by anyone at any level.

Why would they expect voluntary turnover when severance is being offered? That doesn't make sense.
