Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Severance

Is there anyone out there that was let go in the last RIF that can comment on how they are calculating severance? I have heard 1 week a year, and I have heard 1 week a year plus additional weeks. And then I have also heard they add vacation on top of it. I know the max is 26 weeks.
I'm fully expecting to be RIF'd this year and would like to try to plan a bit.

I decided to scan my signed documents with an app I have that combines scanned pages into batch (Cam Scanner), then sent it to HR via email...so glad I did, it was received and approved in 2 days. I received my first severance check the Friday of the same week.

Also received a call from the Unemployment office, glad I started filing, as soon as my severance is done I will start receiving unemployment. Very helpful (less stressful) as seeking new employment opportunities.

Gunningformore, this sounds like age discrimination. Seek legal advice and certainly don't sign anything without severance.

I am being told that because I am over the full retirement age of 66 that Honeywell will have no obligation to pay a severance package. Is this true?

Just a FYI to those in Arizona impacted by the layoffs, you'll want to go here: https://des.az.gov/services/employment/unemployment-individual

As to severance impacting eligibility: "Under certain conditions, severance, vacation, holiday or sick pay may be allocated to a period of time in which UI benefits are claimed. You are not eligible to receive benefits for any week in which allocated severance, vacation, holiday or sick pay exceeds your weekly benefit amount. If the payments are less than your weekly benefit amount, they will be deducted as earnings. You must report severance, vacation, holiday or sick pay when you file your initial application for benefits. If you receive any such payments after you file your initial application, you should immediately contact the AZ Unemployment Insurance Call Center."

Bottom line is sign up for unemployment immediately to get the paperwork started etc. You can then claim your severance, which will make you not get the unemployment but the vehicle is in motion, thus when severance runs out you can transition to unemployment benefits. This is more useful for newer employees, not as practical for those pulling the max 26 weeks/etc.

Hourly

Also, if you get riffed and don’t want to struggle with figuring out how to print/scan/UPS the agreement back, request DocuSign. That took me ten seconds vs a sh– ton of hassle which culminated in my agreement still not being acknowledged as received in spite of UPS tracking confirmation it was delivered Monday 8:30am. REALLY FRUSTRATING.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that the severance is a minimum of 4 weeks, so if you have been an employee for less than 4 years, you will still get 4 weeks.

The person who received vacation pay, were you salary or hourly?

I was employed there for six months when I was riffed recently. Received vacation pay and four paid weeks.

Also...send in severance package asap cause delays will push out your severance checks.

It is one week of pay for every year of service, they do add days for partial years. Nothing for vacation due to the removal of the set amount of days and calling it “unlimited”. The insurance will continue through the end of the last month you receive pay.
