Can someone explain what home office operational is?
Algorithms and analysis. It will be fair. As best can be.
It’s a good thing it’s specified not Covid related. For everyone.
Home office operational gone.
Please LAY ME OFF
I worked as an agent with two locations for Allstate for 15 years. The last two have been so great not listening to Tom WIlson completely lie to Wall St about how the agency force feels about how they are treated. He has made many many millions at the expense of employees and agents jobs, marriages, and stress by treating people the way he does. He cares about no one but himself and Wall St because they buy his BS. He has decimated agent compensation in order to compete, when in fact they will never compete well due to their high paid executives and cost to maintain the legacy systems.
Layoffs 100%
Covid not the reason 100%
I missed the All Hands today. Did TW tip his hand?
Any news on jobs in legal? Wonder why they were told first? Are layoffs going to be based on seniority or merit based?
Do we know what criteria they are using for selecting people for layoffs?
Worked there for 19 years. The wrong people always get pushed out. So many just existing on both tech and business sides.
Only people over 40 will be laid off from what I heard.
Employees have decided that even if one employee is laid off the whole company will resign.
The # of employees at ALL is shocking to say the least! 14 regions, with sub offices + massive Northbrook location. ALL has way too much real estate, way too many field VP's, too many regions.
I have worked with the co. for 7 years and most likely will be a part of the cuts, which is fine. One of the most ineptly managed firms I have ever worked for.
Allstate is profitable, that is a good thing in today's world! If the shareholders care about market share they would go look at the time frame Tom W. took over and match it up with declining market share. You can't put a bean counter at the head of a sales company and expect it to grow.
Shareholders should put up a vote of no confidence in TW and go get Matt Winter back. He had the hearts and minds of the company.
Honestly about time they cut the fat we have so many levels of management RSL Field VP TSL FSL no one has any clue what they are doing. Im in north central and our two top guys are total id–ts and have no feel for how it is for us
- Signed, 10 year agent
Company has been on a mission to turn us into a direct writer since the minute Glenn Shapiro got here. Talk with anybody in field offices and they'll tell you how hollowed out the regions are and how bad morale is
They bring in this Terrence and Glenn and ruin a once great company. Sad. Everyone already overworked. Its suprising they want to cut ppl, employees already leaving by the droves
I was told the same thing today by management. There will be massive cuts to reduce redundancy and then restructuring. They've caught on with covid that many people we doing little, and few were doing most of the work. Look at how many email forwarders we have in the company. Look at how many people have the inability to make a decision. Unfortunately the people that do little will be the ones to decide who stays.
I heard the same and more to come after CEO Tom W. speaks tomorrow. The timing is not the best when trying to look for a job in this market with Covid-19 hanging over the economy.
Same. It was announced to legal today and will be announced to everyone tomorrow. It’s not covid related, they just decided not to put plans on hold because of covid. This plan has been in the works for a year and layoffs have been mentioned since December. They say the company is profitable but sliding behind competitors so they want to trim the fat to increase that profit margin and hopefully rise back to #2. We are currently in 4th. They said there will be packaged but the units to be hit or the number of layoffs is unknown. CEO is unlikely to offer any more significant insight tomorrow beyond that it is happening.
Why tell some but not others? To track the flow of information and determine the source of leaks. Stay anonymous friends.
Legal office here. They told us today in an emergency meeting. A friend in claims hadn't heard. Why are they telling some fields but not others if the layoffs are across the board?
They announced it formally to the legal offices... company wide major layoffs.
I heard the same as above. Guess I’ll be waiting on the edge of my seat until then.
I just posted something under the topic on job cuts. Yes, I heard the same thing. It will be announced during the All Hands meeting tomorrow. Not sure how many but was told all areas and at every level.
