Honeywell Unwilling to Reconsider Work From Home Policy

In today's 2020 Q2 CTO Town Hall with John Messier, it was stated in the Q&A that regardless of how well working from home as admittedly worked, Honeywell is unwilling to reconsider a general WFH policy.

People, the policy disallowing WFH was set to get employees in North America to leave Hon. This aligned to all the other policies aimed at the same goal. It was an integral part of serving the Wall Street institutional investors demand for ever growing dividends from a AAA rated corporation of our size while lining the pockets of managers incentivized to execute that plan...

Now, the President of the country, able to pour cash directly into too-big-fail company coffers, wants to show it’s safe to return to work. Given the s— up show recently filmed in AZ, do you really think DA is going to put counter pressure on DJT’s agenda when that very policy was already in DAs interest?

Doesn’t matter what you think of Trump, this logic is sound and tells you everything you need to know about the future of the WFH policy.

The stubborness on WFH is a red flag about the quality of leadership at HON. And also the style of leadership. What kind of CEO lets his personal preferences dictate policy for a 100K + employee global conglomerate in the middle of a global pandemic?

the narcissism and short-sightedness are amazing.

The rest of the world is moving forward to incorporate more WFH in the future and be cautious about going back to the offices - in other words, they are actually shaping the future.

And HON is lodged firmly in the past, looking backward, trying to stay where it was. ANTI future shapring. Like it is with everything else, because we have terrible leadership at the highest levels, looking only to s— the juice out of the orange and the future be danged.

The cost to decontaminate a site after a reported COVID case is huge. They would rather bite the bullet on WFH for an additional period of time than pay for employee safety.

Just wait until a vaccine is rushed into production. I suspect getting vaccinated will become a mandatory condition of employment at Honeywell. At the very least you will incur a financial penalty during open enrollment if you do not get injected. It is the only way they can force all of us back into tight quarters.

Hearing different things from different parts of the Company.

They may have to give in on this one, at least in pockets, because of the practical constraints they will face and the fact that other employers are moving faster in that direction especially in the young and cheap employees they want to hire.

I am not going back to working in the office. I will WFH until they figure it out and want to get rid of me for it. It’s too bad that large corporation just does not he the benefits of employees that WFH. I will not submit to going back to an office that I have zero encounters with anyone at the whole site to site in a small cube.

For comparison, I left Honeywell to work for one of their customers. We are being told there is no rush to get back into the office and the earliest would likely be end of summer/ early fall or when a vaccine is developed. It is nice to work for a company that trusts employees and is willing to be flexible, especially when there is no change in productivity. I am no longer treated like a liability by my employer. A nice change indeed.

Seriously Honeywell, why go through all the machinations just to say you got employees back into the office? If you have to alternate teams and stagger desks tells me they aren’t truly “safe”. Why risk lives just to uphold a policy which doesn’t work in these times? You are ridiculous.

DA is unwilling to re-think any of his poor decisions and will get rid anyone who contradicts him. WFH is dead until there is a new leader.

How many Buzz words can be used, and back slapping congratulations to themselves be in one meeting?? Toward the end their tongues and backs were sore.
Did not answer in real hard questions like "When is the next set of layoffs?" or "If HW is doing so well, why the furloughs and layoffs to begin with?" "Why have voluntary layoffs and only a certain small percentage get them and others were fired and walked out, or fired over the phone?"
