Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Grass really is greener

I was laid off in April after giving 15 years to the company. I was completely gutted and shocked what had happened. It took a bit longer to find employment and I was a depressed wreck for a bit. I found a job and couldn’t be happier. I can’t believe I put up with HON for so long. I was there for 15 years because it was familiar although very toxic. They really did me a favor. I truly can say the grass is greener. There is MUCH better out there. It’s not worth the stress and anxiety to put up with their c-ap. Move on if you can. Best wishes.

I gave over 35 years to HW. So I know how you feel. People tell me it will get better, but it still hurts.

@nsv, congratulations. One thing HON is good at, is preparing people to have successful careers at other companies. Some have commented here in past about it. The skills learned are marketable, and valuable once you leave.

I was let go a 2 weeks ago and already have a promising lead with a great company. I’m fortunate they wacked me off when I was a young employee rather than 10,15,30 years down the road....

I agree......I have left HW in the past and came back...it has gotten much worse for the employee. And while the grass is not always greener everywhere....sometimes it really is....it is always worth taking the chance......the Aerospace industry is a goner for the next 3 years.....time to change employment direction since almost every other manufacturing industry will come back much quicker and likely be needing high skilled individuals......remember....all companies are just a commodity to make a living at....careers, are just a series of jobs......nothing mystical.

@vdi: Your comment about the OP must have been a bottom performer: I've known more than a few good performing coworkers let go over the years simply due to them not putting up with the BS of narcissistic leaders they reported to.

Left as a VRIF 4 years ago and started at Raytheon in Tucson. No complaints at this defense company.

Many of these aerospace and defence companies have degenerated into corporate cults with hostile, authoritarian work environments. Lacking any real job security, they have very little appeal to those who have other options.
