Hm'mm, we're to construe that voluntary separations at the occupational level is somehow bad? We should just have regular involuntary layoffs? Tip and ring/landline is dead, particularly over copper. Hopefully, the voluntary funerals will reduce the need for involuntary ones.
The new communication standards is Zoom, Skype, Facetime, Voip, etc. The infrastructure is coax, fiber or wireless. If it's wireless, there is no "last mile" infrastructure that needs to be maintained. That's the new reality.
