I work in building services at a location that is being shuttered. We currently have a list of just below 30 such sites as of now. Yesterday we received word that employees will not be allowed to re-enter closed buildings to retrieve personal items. It was strongly advised during the COVID bug out that all personal items and items if value be taken home with uncertainty if when the building would be re-opened. Once officially shuttered all personal items not owned by Allstate will be either disposed of, donated to charity/Goodwill type locations, or absorbed into Allstate 's office supply pool. Such personal items to be donated includes clothing, blankets, desk trinkets, pictures, dishes, portable electronic devices, fans, et al. To put into the Allstate office supply pool includes all brought in personal office supplies, personal ergonomic devices, personal chairs, cleaning supplies, and anything else in good enough shape to distribute to remote workers as requested. We would advise if possible that employees try to make arrangements to get their personal belongs from these closing locations before they are shuttered from non-essential entry. We don't believe corporate is going to bother communicating this to you to allow time to retrieve personal property.

I've asked a few times in teams chat as to when we can go get our stuff and have been ignored.
I am in a MTF in a department that really isn't being affected by layoffs (sorry for those that have to go through this). We were just told that the amount of space we have in the building will shrink but we will still have offices in the building, it was implied the space the regional employees had would be gone just leaving us and claims. We have been told in about 6-8 weeks access will be allowed.
Our regional office is being closed and I have been told no further access to the building by us. Asked about our belongings and were told we were to take them when we went remote for COVID.
How can they not give us access to our things ?
Don’t forget though, Tom Wilson wants to “do whats right”, and “be transparent”
How can we find out if we can have our things mailed to us?
Classic move... They won't have to escort people out or watch over people packing belongings... They'll just take it and dispose of "abandoned" items.
We were told recently that our building likely would not be re-opening until after first of next year and there is absolutely no access including exceptions to retrieve personal property.
Some offices were not told they were going to be locked out, they found out in an email while at home and had not chance to get anything. We have asked about going back to retrieve items and have been told no.
I contacted my manager and was told I was instructed to take everything with me when we locked down and she wouldn't even ask about it for me.
Original OP...any list of offices just curious.
I can understand if there are measures in place due to Covid, however, I don't think legally a company has any rights to personal property. That would be considered theft, no?
Tried to get mine a few weeks ago and was told I couldn't go in.
Thank you for posting this. I’m so glad I retrieved my personal items from my cube a few weeks ago. My building is not being shuttered, but as they are limiting access now, I’m happy to have gotten my stuff then.
Is there a list anywhere to find out which offices are being "shuttered"
