This is so much like the long history of mistakes by AT&T. Olivetti, NCR, AT&T Wireless, Concert, Lucent,...I’m sure I’m forgetting some. Such a long history of failure. Why is now any different? Where the hell are Ed Whitaker and C. Michael Armstrong? Rhetorical question. They’re living like Saudi royalty after screwing shareholders & employees. This is b—s— and it needs to end.

Gaming is a tiny fraction of revenue compared to the cash cows of fiber and wireless and their associated services.
They're selling gaming because it's easy to do to help pay off some of the debt. Brings in some money, one less business unit to manage .. decision was likely made at the time of the aquisition.
This company needs to pay off debt. It is either that or more layoffs. So assets have to be sold. Whether that is video gaming division of Warner media, CNN, DirectTV, AT&T Mexico, you name it. What other choice do they have? McFresh has already said the only things that matter are wireless and fiber. That is what should have been our focus all along. I think he knows what he is doing. We lost our way with DirecTV and then with Donovan and his software everything nonsense. This is not a software company, will never be a software company trying to compete with Amazon or Google or silicon valley. But it is a hell of a great network company. Everything else should be considered for sale.

There is no “new leadership.” Stank has been Randy’s right-hand man for Randy’s entire time as CEO.
I can't believe they would make yet another huge bone head move like dump gaming. I hope the new leadership can find a way to stay or keep a line of business that is profitable.
Ed Whitaker hand-picked Randy as his successor, and Stank was a senior executive under Whitaker as well.
Whitaker also began the acquisition frenzy.
He is partially to blame for all that has transpired since.
