Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Layoff notices

Supposedly from what I’m gathering as of now, only the legacy Dtv managers in d3 got the email regarding the fact that they’re getting notice of layoffs tomorrow

T bought DTV at the peak for sure, but also 1) let all the DTV leadership go 2) went on a wrongheaded crusade to migrate the DTV billing system to Uverse, only to stop with the job half done 3) destroyed the customer service by offshoring and cost cutting 4) stopped investment in the product 5) ultimately decided to stop even trying to compete for sales. Pay TV has declined overall but after 5 years AT&T has lost more subscribers than fair share, mainly because of mismanagement. Now, the man who led the charge has been promoted.

What’s going on down in Miami? They have been hammered between Core and Wire/Prem Techs compared to other locations in the SE.

@1ghe: Sure thing, pal. Because we all know how wildly successful T is in the video biz! Look at U-verse ... why that had about 1/20 the subscribers DTV had. And now both ATTTV and HBO Max have almost 750,000 subscribers. How on earth could DTV's measly 15million compare to that?

Honestly, are you DTV-hating deathstar id–ts so blind you can't even see the smallest bit of reality? At what point does T ownership of something also mean the responsibility for results? I bet if DTV subs increased over these last 5 years you'd say it was all because of T's brilliant leadership, but since it's gone down it's the fault of horrible old DTV – even though T has been running the business (and removing legacy DTV folks) for more than 5 years now.

Grow up, nitwit.

Dtv is now under mobility somehow...
No longer considered prem techs in D3. So we are loosing 15 prem techs but the DTV Techs that share our yard still have a job.. It's not personal, just business Thanks T

T did not ruin DTV, DTV ruined DTV.

The majority of the original DTV managers are long gone. They were replaced by T managers that knew absolutely nothing about DTV and how its system worked. Those few still remaining will also be let go.

Dtv is great. We can expand on satellite and modify it to be inter galactic tv.

@vlt. You are 100% correct Dtv has been a joke ever since they were integrated into AT&T. I guess we really did adopt your culture of being a laughing stock to any competitor while at the same time maintaining the downward trend in revenue and sales, which is the only thing that the AT&T executives have really excelled at!
