Verizon hasn't laid off any of its 135,000 employees during the pandemic. Instead, the company has retrained around 20,000 workers for new careers

Thats because they already whacked a bunch of people a couple of years ago when THEY offered 100K to leave early!!!
Verizon is just as big of a meat grinder as AT&T. This article is just another PR stunt.
The key word is not "Retraining", I believe the FYI msg by the OP is "Verizon hasn't laid off any of its 135,000 employees" which can be Verizon's honesty and sincere reaction to our AT&T's 7/10/20 mass layoff.

I thought we did that? Oh wait, we retrained them and then laid them off.
Imagine believing that Verizon is “doing it right”.
Most of these "retraining" claims are bs, making someone click through a two hour PowerPoint presentation isn't "training". All these online training companies are selling companies a heap of dung and there's virtually no return on most of these online classes.
AT&T has been doing that for 10 years. Then the time came.
