Back in 2004 when I was with the old AT&T Wireless, I lost my job. It was devastating and I had to work contractor IT jobs to make ends meet. Fortunately an RF engineer told me about a switch tech position which I took and still have. My group hasn't been impacted but I know how these things go even though my city has two network switches. So I have been looking for opportunities to learn a new skill and even training in my old field of IT services. Today I found a great post I'd like to share with those of you affected by the job cuts: https://pocketnow.com/google-announces-new-skill-based-training-programs-to-help-people-land-high-paying-jobs
I hope this helps some people and the good news is that there are a number of companies who would love to hire those who've been in the corporate world. These training programs last a few months and can hopefully get some people employed again. I empathize with you who have lost your jobs and hope you the best!
