Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Totals or News Coverage?

Where is the totals? Are we talking 15K positions on Friday? Or more? Or less.

Where is ANY news coverage? good or bad....

My team lost ~55 out of 200 in ABS mostly L2, some L3s

Maybe news will hit when this 1st wave of laid off people start to speak up about the unfairness and fraud behind the reasons for getting axed.

I too am surprised that the only news about AT&T lay-offs is from June with the 3400 announcement.
Maybe since there is no official big number to wrap a headline around it, it just doesn’t rate with the news outlets.

Start letting your local news outlets know. It will get out soon. AT&T can’t keep it hidden

There will be no news coverage for the 7/10 surplus. The only reason why the public knew about the 3-4k layoffs was due to them being bargained for employees.

What are you searching on CNN to find the news coverage? I have searched for "AT&T" "AT&T Layoff" "ATT Layoff" – all with NO results. Also a Google search has nothing recent about layoffs at AT&T in the News section. I see reports from June that layoffs are "coming soon", but nothing with a date more recent than 7/10. I guess there is some benefit to owning CNN, afterall.

OP - you are asking for bad news coverage about a company that owns CNN?

55 out of 200?

You got off easy. Of teams that were affected, I'm hearing 35%. Of course that's not an overall total because (this time) some teams had no impact. But mostly 1/3 seems to be a common number.

The best counts (official) come during earning reports. For this round you need to wait till October (3rd quarter earnings report). You have to subtract whatever our totals are at the end of second quarter from what they announce end of 3rd quarter. That includes both union and management. By the time it is all said and done, 2020 probably is somewhere around 25,000-30,000 employee loss.
