At least DTV is still making money to pay down the debt. This is why there isn’t some fire sale of DTV. Content contracts are also more affordable than the dying Uverse TV. AT&T TV (what a dumb name with all the Ts) is sputtering. Until they recognize the cost structures are priced too high and stop doing 13% price increases annually, it isn’t cord cutters that will k–l the company. It’s the ppl who now can get cable again for a lot less. lol

@1myq: True dat. It seems like every year since the deathstar colonized DIRECTV they've had multiple mass layoffs. The last one I recall was earlier this year, though it was small by T standards (only 5-10% reduction).

The entire group seems already spread so thin that additional cuts would start to have a genuine and large impact on the business. But I doubt Stink worries about that. A sensible executive would forego additional layoffs. But T doesn't have any of those.

EG was hit hard over a couple of years. I think the total cut was somewhere around 35-40%.

my group supports the EG sites. zero offers, zero cuts, business as usual. i'd love to get a retirement offer.

I'm a legacy DIRECTV guy in El Segundo and part of EG, or BBV, or whatever they are calling it today.

As far as I know there were no layoffs within this part of T. Probably because they are going to hit us in the next round, some time in Q4.

Any sense of relief you might feel is temporary at best.

Carry on.
