Do not treat those who you know as leper’s who were notified Friday. People need to talk, and not feel cut off from friends they have known for quite a long time.

The don't want the ones left behind still working to know the truth about how this company screws you for no reason at all.
Keep in mind AT&T encourages those not affected to be “respectful” and not reach out as that may be invading their privacy. It is sad and heartless.
When 60% of my team was moved to Accenture last December, it was horrible. I did talk to some of them affected and told them they may be better off than those of us left behind. I did survive Friday but we were told the cuts will come again shortly.
I agree with the poster. Most of my day Friday was comforting and consoling colleagues and friends who were impacted inside and outside of my org. Mostly. I just lent an ear and listened and let them vent. I did my best to give them sympathy and encouragement. I offered a couple a loan if and when needed as not everyone is in the best of shape financially these days dependent upon their personal; responsibilities and obligations.
I was informed of my official notification coming on 7/23, off payroll 8/6 ( Retail- store closed). After 12 years only 1 person called to check on me and I’ll tell you, I greatly appreciated it. I do understand how some people may not even know, or may not know what to say, I totally get that. But if you know someone who has been affected, I definitely think they’d appreciate a call or even a text just to say “ how are you doing “ especially if you’re friendly and have known each other a long time. Just my opinion.

Am in the same position as you....and it is very hard for me to call a colleague and ask them if they were cut or not....1. That look like an awkward conversation, 2. For fear of a negative response.
Yes. But they were treated like lepers by our managers. They did not have the courtesy to tell others these folks were let go. How are we supposed to make contact.. I will though and tell them let me know if I can help in any such way.
Bingo! If most of us were in our 20s we would realize that we would be switching companies every 3 to 4 years which means that company loyalty with the employer Is a thing of the past but with your fellow and pass peers it should be ironclad. Relationships and networking is what gets you through tough times!
