I didn't notice any news coverage at all of the current round of layoffs. Did anybody else see any coverage at all?
Do we matter so little?

You want media coverage paint your street.
"It was all hype in my opinion. I know of no one personally that was impacted in Network "
What F'ng island were you on yesterday ? Asking for a friend.

I am in California signed the buyout and I can retire , I am gone. its time to move out of California hell hole ! It has changed so much here , good luck everyone ,, make plans now for your future it is coming fast . Last day is the 24th
Wake up people. It’s just getting started. The cuts will continue indefinitely. If you want loyalty, get a dog. You are an entry on a spreadsheet and nothing more to AT&T....and that’s all you will ever be. The sooner you realize that the better off you will be. Whether you let it victimize you is entirely up to you. If you are still here, give them an honest 40 hours a week and not a minute more. Set boundaries so you have a balanced life. Have an executable Plan B. Live within your means, max out your 401K. Don’t tell me it can’t be done. I did it and when my number comes up I’ll be ready. Own your own c-ap. If you think you’re special then think again. You’re just a number and all they owe you is a paycheck for time worked. You are responsible for your future... not them. Amen
media statements were made a month or so ago indicating there will be some layoff's. Most if not all companies do not advertise layoffs. They only say things that are good for the reputation.
In the past companies would announce layoffs on purpose to prove they were cost cutting and sell more stock.
Wait until the earnings call in 2 weeks to see if it’s announced or if analysts ask about it.
It won't be on the news. Layoffs are old hat - its not 1990. No one cares anymore. People are trained to just accept it and blame themselves.
Nope.
They can lie about this as much as they want. If asked, the newly hired blonde tri-delt graduate from USC hired for media relations will make some type of blanket statement that she will not even understand, much less care. It's whatever Stank says, and cannot even be tried in a court of law for lying, unless something is intentionally misleading on a 10-k statement with the SEC.
If anything they will say people voluntarily quit and or retired. Then they will blame the covid virus, even though this has been planned for several years. The media will swallow that up and run with that for all of 18 seconds on the cnbc afternoon market news that nobody watches. Either that they will claim people were moved to jobs elsewhere in the company with more business demand.
A cut of this size warrants media attention. 40% of Weiboldt org. Not evenly distributed.
Global hit harder.
Why would it matter if they made the news. The list is made and the notices will be dealt. It doesn’t matter one bit if there is coverage. If you got tapped then you got tapped; end of story!
I am under Mair / Knight - I don’t know anyone that got it. I am catching on the board now, but given the expected scope of the layoff it did not seem very big as of earlier this afternoon.
Maybe it’s to early
What layoffs?
