Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Outsource to Ericsson

I received the sad news this week that I was being let go and that certain individuals were being released to Ericsson. Sadly I didn't get that invite and after many years of hard work, dedication and loyalty to the company this is how it all ends. I'm disappointed and frustrated all at the same time. This company has been on a down spiral for so long and they still haven't learned from their mistakes. Sad!!!

You are aware that AT&T was acquired by SBC, not the other way around? It ceased to exist about 15 years ago.

SBC kept the name. Do you even work at AT&T?

I was part of the former Rice org (under Mair/Fuesch) and impacted as well after 17 years. Time for a new chapter, good luck to all!

People, I’m sorry to hear of your situation! T has certainly been in a downward spiral for years with one bad business decision after another starting with the purchase of NCR back in 1991 and every additional acquisition thereafter. All these suits with their advanced degrees should file lawsuits against their respective colleges because they got ripped off! Just remember, it’s not your fault you’re being let go! It’s gross incompetence by CEOs, VPs and all the imbeciles that think they know what they’re doing. They couldn’t even manage a garage sale to be profitable!

Sorry to hear your situation. I guess you were with the AIC group? I saw that most of the work went to Ericsson and the rest of the work that stayed with AT&T looked like can mostly be done by 2 or 3 people and what a ploy most of the Tier 1 - Tier 3 work is done in India anyways and that stayed with AT&T!

I am expecting the call today from my Manager but in my case I know I am 100% out! So, after 22 years of service, I have no regrets and I know I can find a job and I have 2 kids in College so I just need few more years of work!
