Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Can you be laid off during Personal Leave of Absence?

Currently on Personal LOA, wondering if they would even bother laying me off if I am just up to be terminated when I am due to return since it's an unprotected leave with no guarantee of placement.

Since your are currently not a productive member of the group, chances are that they will lay you off unless you were “walking on water” before and are due to return shortly.

Sorry but that’s how life is.

Happened to me. You will come back for one day, so they can say your job was there when you returned. That’s your last day.

Fir a Personal leave they don’t have to wait until until you come back. They will just tell you don’t come back

You get reprieve until you return. This is straight from HR, but they will catch up to you as soon as you return. Good luck everyone it’s sad where we’re at but stay positive as you can.

Well as far as medical leave. It is the first day you return. Had this exact scenario on my team some years ago....... person was on medical leave we were hit, and he was one of those hit by surplus, but they had to wait till he returned.

If it’s unprotected Leave than I think you can be payed off. I’m not sure. I also think if it’s protected leave and they want to lay you off, they can do it on the first day you return. It may depend on your state and applicable laws.
