Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

My Guess - After Randall S!

  • Stankey is now CEO
  • The Board has agreed to split Chairman and CEO positions after Randall retires after the end of the year.
  • Elliot wants more control and will not accept Stankey as Chairman.
  • Bill Morrow is their guy who is driving change,
  • They get another board seat this year.
  • They will slot in Bill Morrow as Chairman of AT&T in December.

UP arrow agrees (not like just agree with the premise.
DOWN arrow disagrees

Elliot is a robber barron. He has no interest in the long term stability or viability of the company. We follow his lead at our own demise.

If you were Elliot, all you want is your plan executed, and Stankey seems to be doing that, so I think he'll be around for a bit.

The real question is if the WM acquisition will pay off. It's interesting that Elliot has invested in both AT&T (which bought WarnerMedia) as well as Comcast (which bought NBCUniversal). Both seem to have 'Netflix envy' while Verizon & T-mobile/Sprint don't

If MAX fails to deliver and 5G competition heats up, then there will be pressure to divest WM along with some executives. Elliot may accelerate this, but it seems like would unfold over a couple years. In the 90's, it took AT&T 5 years to divest NCR after it bought it, after the anticipated benefits of the merger didn't materialize.

Stankey will make it 3 years or more. Just Look at the pathetically high tolerance for ignorance and flawed strategy this company showed to his immediate predecessor. If rs can last 5 years past what any basic logic would dictate, js can avoid the boot for a mere 3 years. Elliott is a get rich quicker then moves on to next victim. Kind of like a mugger who has way more money than those he stalks, but he still wants their wallet.

Unfortunately he's being played at the expense of thousands of lives and families. He may extort his millions, but he will no doubt rot in H-ll.

If Down arrow then who do you think will be named Chairman? Internal/External candidate? Stankey with McElfresh as CEO? If anyone thinks they have a more likely scenario lets hear it.

Elliot group will not own a single share of T stock in 18-24 months. Their whole business MO is to prey on high debt companies with weak leadership. They are only in it for a short term pump and dump but Stank is too st–pid to see he's being played.

T checks both of those boxes without doubt.

Agree with the split. But don't want Elliot to be involved for a long period. They are all about surplussing, breaking up, selling, splitting, stock buyback. Not about growth or stability.
