Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

What about GMO/Corp. Communications?

We've been hit hard over the past two years and expecting more. Lots of layers of AVPs and "directors" up and down this organization. Has anyone heard where this org is headed, or even sister orgs External Affairs or Citizenship and Sustainability? There is tons of crossover between these three orgs with a lot of the same work being done often with multiple AVPs.

Its insane!

Oh, and I forgot that External Affairs hands out those big cardboard bribery checks to buy influence with legislators and regulators and other government scumbags. We can't have that important work end.

Just don't cut External Affairs or Citizenship and Sustainability. They are the invaluable corporate propaganda departments. Who else would be able to shovel the sh*t as effectively?

Gonna get hammered in your group. T just needs1 person only to blast out a daily BLM email and write an annual g– pride email. Rest of you can go work in an amazon warehouse or drive an amazon van.

Are you the organization that sends out 6 or so "social justice" love notes from Ratty and Stinky daily?

If so, I hope they cut all of you!

If we take T logic into account, it would be completely expected for them to leave the redundancy alone but cut in departments/business segments that are already short-staffed and over-worked.

The overhead departments of Marketing/Advertising , HR, Finance, Legal and Executive Support are very top heavy with very small spans of control. Each of those departments could be cut by 50% with more of a focus on efficiency. There must be over 10,000 employees with some version of VP/ Chief of Staff/CFO in their title.

You’ve answered your own question, with your description of the over-lap and redundancy.

No one knows any details—they’ve succeeded this time in keeping the details secret, until they hit you with the news that you are gone.
