Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

@1ovz: as far as I know, none. I'm in BBV and have only heard the threats that changes/cuts are coming. But, in typical att fashion, nobody knows when, where, or how many.

The best part is I was on a call with our director the other day who went on to praise "leadership" for their honesty and transparency!

I swear, not even David Brent or Michael Scott are this bad a manager.

What Groups in BBV have been told they are impacted?

Receiving a generic email invite to the masses for a “town hall” does not mean you will not be impacted by the surplus. Business will run as usual until notices go out. No one will be excluded from any type of meeting or training even if you are in the list.

Congrats, being on that invite means you have a job at t for life. So go work hard.

Another Town Hall? No wonder this company is in the toilet. No one doing any work, just beating off in Town Halls and PowerPoint decks.

These town halls are waste of time. Did anybody calculated how much it costs in lost of productivity? What is the purpose to attend them and listen to all that BS?

It is NOT possible for HR to process all cuts from one day. So the cuts will be spread out from now until end of year. Use your common sense !!!!!

They're just trying to show their own bosses that they are doing "essential" work.

Since they know nothing about keeping the network running or serving customers, their "work" is producing these "town hall" meetings to pretend to take employee questions, pontificate about matters well outside of corporate control or real interest (like BLM and other social concerns), and produce "answers" to questions nobody actually asked, thus filling time that counts toward "managing" employees.

Essentially, take it as their own "please don't lay me off" attempt at busywork that looks enough like real work that it just might actually get them spared while you get cut.

Ours happening Friday. Got a July 15 Town Hall meeting from VP today. Know it doesn't mean 'spared'. just means we work for a company with mental acuity of a sociopath

Keep in mind, not all the cuts are happening this Friday. Some groups are in Aug or Sept.
