Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

D3 / Southeast Voluntary offer calls today. It’s started!

Know of 2 ATL metro FT/ST techs called from Birmingham, AL and told they were selected to receive the voluntary offer for SIPP plus 50k. Off payroll date = July 17. They were unbelievably happy!

Caller said they were a little behind due to the Holiday and lack of people for various reasons.

I’m an OPT in Southeast and put my papers in for buyout. We have two ST on list for surplus who didn’t put in for it in my exchange. I’m the only one who put in for it and the company said they won’t let me get the package because the ST doesn’t have a CDL and they don’t want to train them.

Heard that 2 OPT’s in metro Atl were just offered in place of the ST’s that were originally slotted for the offer. None of the ST’s signed the voluntary form in their group and location.

Haters are going to hate. If you had some representation maybe you wouldn’t be so sour. Why do you think executives have such sweet deals? It’s because they negotiated, get a clue Sherlock. It’s the middle managers and under represented that take it on the chin during executive malfeasance.

I just wish they would offer senior techs in the West & SW area of the country an opportunity to leave because there’s a handful that are ready! The problem is the company is expecting all this work to come down the pike and they’re hiring like crazy in AZ. In the mean time, techs are productive only about 20 hours/wk...nice to work part time for full time pay! There are far more techs than there is work in AZ...nice work if you can get it!

This offer helps to make up for some of the disparity between management and Union 401k match rates over the years.

Heard of an OPT in Florida that was selected. Lucky man, will be paid for remaining vacation days. Those with 30 + years are getting nearly a years pay, not bad in these times if you are ready to go.

Nice that some employees get to leave on their terms, Thanks CWA Union for signing the agreement with the company so this could happen.
