No joke. Most people aren't allowed in the office, but the word doc they sent out says to deliver the news in person. And they don't just mean on the phone by a person, because they then detail what to do if the boss isn't co-located (they want another manager to be there in person while the boss makes the call) Nobody knows how that's gonna work :/

"In person" LOL. I haven't met my last 3 bosses "in person".
1ffo - you can't post documents here, genius. And nobody's going to put it on their google drive for you to see.
but the word doc they sent out says to deliver the news in person.
Post the word doc then.
1bzh - Yes, I imagine it will be impossible. But the document they sent out was dated July, and it still says it. Did you attend an HR training session that indicated as much? How will assets be handled in two weeks?
There is NO requirement for a face to face meeting.
I haven't worked within 500 miles of anyone in my entire t supervisory chain in 15 years. My sudden guillotine job cut will occur over phone when it comes, then email to t email and maybe even personal email to document it, with perhaps even a text to cover all bases. No way anyone gonna see me in person for that. I have no need for that, waste of time and money.
Going on FMLA only pauses your surplus. Even if you went out before the surplus. You’re still effected. It’s just paused until you get back to work. Or you manager will call and ask to come back for one day to get your severance package.
Post the Word Document...
At least in management, if you are on disability you are not eligible to be laid off. If you go on disability after you are selected, you can not be notified until you return.
Haha, I was undergoing a chemo treatment, sick as a dog, out on disability last year and I got a call from my supervisor saying I was being surplussed.
Always roll 2 deep when terminating someone’s employment.
