“ So sad to know a lot of them are losing their jobs with so few real options for work in the island.”

Here is your opportunity. This economic downturn is an opportunity for PR in general.

Hon, HP, and others on PR have invested tons of time and capital to educate the PR labor pool. The education is first hand experience running high technology business. How to organize yourselves and the technical work - the whole life cycle of product development. You’re also NOT the US in the eyes of the world, but close enough to the US physically to have some unique access if needed. PR is ready to become a mini Tiawan, if you can organize yourselves politically.

From the experience working with PR engineering staff, you have the skills to reshape your future. Good luck!

No, no, no! You took that completely wrong. I’ll apologize right up front about how you clearly feel and state I agree with your general sentiments.

My point was not that PR or any other non-US populations aren’t worthy. It was that Hon leadership (l e a d e r s h i p) doesn’t intrinsically value anyone. Not employees in PR, India, Vietnam, USA, anywhere. In terms of labor, they value one thing - cost. Not skill, not productivity, they value only cost (in their religion, Process can fix everything but cost).

The poster in PR that had been at Hon for 10+ years is a red flag to everyone not in the US pool. In a “low cost region”, that 10+ yr vet had become too expensive when measured against peers and other regions. Hon went to PR for low labor costs and when someone gets to be too expensive they get let go, to be replaced by someone cheaper.

What happened to that poster, is exactly what happened in the CONUS. We were deemed too expensive and are getting replaced. These RIFs in the US are part of the process of exporting the jobs to lower cost regions.

  • > My point is to you in PR and other regions, don’t get expensive because they will do to you what they did to us. That poster is living proof.

The number that they use for selling PR site services is that PR employees make 40% less on average than their CONUS peers. So sad to know a lot of them are losing their jobs with so few real options for work in the island.

We in PR are a colony of your glorious USA . That is biggest racist place in entire planet and first place in covid congrats. Because your ignorant president can handle anything.
Talking about work now. We do the same or more work than you in the US and get paid at least 30% less .We don't like it. We are people like you and we work because we need the job as you. We have one of the best universities in the
American territory , and most of all speak English and Spanish or even other languages,
But that something an American will never do.
An yes We work hard. Yes, for 30% less, because we dont have a choice.
We pay the same social security that you pay, but we dont have the same benefits. We have
companies that make d–gs and medical components here, and guess what? The US invented this stupid and discriminatory rule that makes that these things are send to the mainland
sometimes only for a seal and resell them to our importers with a huge mark-up. We, different than
other territories are required to move the merchandise imported using only US shipments,
which makes everything very expensive. Different US stores go in bankruptcy in the US, but
they survive in PR with great sales. Our best land and national treasures are US property, not
ours. The contraceptive pills you our your wife use were tested in our grandmothers, who did
not approve their usage in their bodies. Our doctors and different professionals study here
because is less expensive and just take a plane and go to the US, leaving us with a shortage
here. You see it as we are taking your job. We just survive as you, id–t. We don't have a lot
of companies like you have there. You get layoff and just find a good job around the corner.
We get layoff and we can be a lot of time without a job or just find something that pays $7.25.
We receive millions in help for our island, but believe me , is not free.
We in PR feel very bad about all the peers we have from the US who are loosing their jobs. We pray for you and we feel sad every time we receive an email from someone that is gone. Dont be a stupid jerk and think the world moves just around you. Imbécil de mierda! Te lo digo en mi idioma para que vayas corriendo a google a ver qué dije. Por eso es que tu país está bien jodido, porque piensan solo en términos del color de la piel o el país de dónde vienen. Al final, todos somos iguales.

“ I was iRIF on June 15th, after 10+ years of service and countless of unpaid worked hours”

PR, India, etc exist because CONUS employees are “too expensive”. They got that way by being around a long time, soaking up decades of 2-5% annual raises.

What makes the rest of the global Hun workforce think that they would make this same mistake twice? They don’t love you, the love your low cost. Stop being cheap, and the love will stop too...

Is PR impacted? I heard it wasn't same with India. Those are the lifelines to compensate the heavy cuts on the rest.

Is there a RIF in PR? Usually it's only CONUS. Corporate loves PR.
