With the expense of building out so much office work space into the collaborative zones, and now COVID-19, maybe the delay to return to the office is, they have to go to another great expense to reconfigure or build blinders and shields in and around the CZ's?? Granted when they do RTW, there won't be as many of us.

The senior executive team went back to the office, at Dallas headquarters, as of June 1st.
Quite observant Captain Obvious. They cannot ignore the CDC guidelines, hence the delays, I am sure CRE is overwhelmed trying to make the necessary changes. There will obviously be less people returning. This is partly due to surplus and also due to the fact that the whole collaboration/ engagement sham was completely decimated and destroyed by the virus. You won't be hearing it anymore. For folks like me that are on teams that are spread out around the country, those that remain will not be going back to full time office. They simply won't have the space needed to bring everyone back and still comply with guidelines.
Leadership has stated since the beginning of the WFH change that WFH could continue till the end of the year. Be patient let's put this virus behind us before we talk about moving back into the offices.
If they are closing stores, where revenue generation (however little) happens, you can bet there are ongoing plans to close corporate buildings (cost centers).
I've been back to a CZ, they invested money on posters and stickers to tell people to wear PPP and social distancing. The receptionist desk got Plexiglass. That is the extent of investment folks. Most of us will be layoff first before ever setting a foot back to the office. Specially when congress hasn't pass immunity for businesses for covid19 negligence.
No one is going back to an office any time soon, trust me.
