Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Hard working men ... we see you

I am not the only wife of a tech on this site, trying to make sense of nonsense. Since we can't change whatever will happen, I want to say - Thank you techs for your long days, in the heat (rain and everything else). We realize that the stress we feel is nothing compared to what you feel, still working your asses off, hoping against hope that it will somehow make a difference. It s—s, and we can't do anything to change it. You know what we can control? What it does to our family unit and our personal relationships. Do not let this tear your family apart. Wishing everyone nothing but the best.

We really on say "hard working", especially when contract negotiation is coming. The other times, we wonder why time on my watch is so slow.

“ Manager with 30+ years who may lose my job this week.”
Another YoS badge collector. Sure hope you get canned. There are WAY too many folks at ATT, retiring in place. You are the problem. ATT is about to solve it. You have ruined the company.

Man this is the truth. Im a manager and ill tell you what the hard work the men and women on the tech side put in is bar none. Especially the work they do in this Georgia heat, the long hours, and the constant irate customers.

Thank you for what you do.

You get it! It's not management vs union. It's all of us against the c-suite that ruined this company. The group that should of been fired sit back without a care in the world.

To the manager , I hope you don't lose your job of course. You and your family don't deserve this after all these years of loyal service and professionalism. No one does. And on that note , I think we have a lot of great employees at our company who work really hard, both management and non management alike. I hate reading some of the ugly language I see employees hurling at each other. No man is an island. Craft can't do their job without the support of management roles. Their would be no job for them to do if it weren't for sales and all the other support roles that are done behind the scenes that we don't see. And vice versa. Their would be no sales or support roles without craft out there doing our job. Bottom line , we are a team. We are not each other's enemies. Any anger should be directed at the mismanagement of this company's c-suite, especially Randy and Stankey. They lied to the public. They lied to Congress. They lied to the judge presiding the time warner case. They continue to lie right now as they lay off managers in a 14 day window, taking advantage of a loophole for times of crisis like the coronavirus. Unchecked greed. For randy and Stankey , whatever they earn is never enough. They need more and more and more. They could easily save jobs by giving up a very small percentage of their "earnings". But they don't. They think they deserve every last penny. Same with Wall Street. Wall Street is equally to blame for these layoffs. Why ? Because the company is profitable. There's really no need for these layoffs except for the pressure to satisfy investors and Wall Street. So please try not to kick each other when we are down , saying one group works harder than another. We all have important roles in this company. Unfortunately , c-suite has no shame or principles and just keep reaching for more and more and more. It'll never be enough for them.

Manager with 30+ years who may lose my job this week. I would like to thank all of the hard working technicians at AT&T. While I rarely had to leave the comfort of my office, I did go through outside technician strike training several times. The risks to personal safety that technicians face on the job is similar to serving as a first responder. I did customer service strike training as well. Navigating countless systems and problem solving while talking to an irate customer is a challenging position as well. Strike training gave me a better appreciation for my own position in the company. Clearly I would have not enjoyed such a long career had it not been for the technicians and customer service representatives who install, maintain, and provide professional service to our customers. Please remember that if you were successful in your job at AT&T, there is another company and customers that will appreciate your talent. Best wishes to you!
