Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

I can’t take it anymore!

The waiting is k–ling me! If and when it happens, do they let you know and walk you to the door? Or do they give you like two months notice?

What is going to happen on the 10th? A giant zoom meeting, a town hall , an email?

Are the assessments going to be given company wide? As in, every single role in the company could get an assessment?

If you don't get one, what does it mean? And is this the only assessment that will be given, or will there be another round of assessments? I seem to have missed these meetings people are talking about.

As horrible as this situation is and how it is being handled, I try to focus on loving my job based on the people I work with on a daily basis instead of the actual company as a whole. It makes things easier in a way, but does not in any capacity make things okay.

All just a word of encouragement... this time last year Allstate closed our claims office and relocated. I was a 30 year plus employee and decided not to relocate. I was offered a year severance and retired early. I was able to find another job after 2 months.

You will all be ok! There is life after Allstate! Have faith and hang on! Update your resumes, join Linked In and any other career network! I promise you, that you will be exactly where you will end up exactly where you are supposed to be. We were all just as devastated of the news when we heard it!

And all of us ended up ok!

If you don’t get notice to take the assessment, when would you be officially told and when would the 60 days start?

We were told, you will be notified July 10 if you will be required to take the skills assessment, which will be received July 15th. 60 day notices out on Aug 31.

It was presented in an actual meeting, that July 15th is the assessment day. Sept. 30th everyone will be notified. There are no rounds. Just one big round. Nov 30th would be the last day since you get 60 days notice. That’s why they keep saying no one is going back to an office at least until 9/30, because that’s D day. Then they keep saying the restructuring will take place end of Nov. so it all makes sense.
You will get paid out your retirement and 401K, if you’re vested. They’re also paying 2 weeks pay for each calendar year completed by then. Plus you will get paid for your remaining PTO.

July 15 a selected number will take the assessment right? Then a few weeks later a decision will be made on who stays.

I was laid off from my job at Allstate recently. We were given 60 days notice and had the opportunity to apply for other jobs during that time.

Those who did not get a job offer or elected to leave were paid 2 weeks severance for every year worked. Those were offered jobs transitioned into their new roles. Everyone who wanted to stay had to re-apply for a job.

When they closed the office I worked in for 40 years we got good notice. I think it was about 60 days. No “walk out” but my office closed. Once notice was given to the employees if you decided to leave it was a double standard. If you were going to another carrier you were walked out. If you were going to work at Vons ( for example ) you could work your two weeks. We did get paid either way.
