Thread regarding Noble Energy Inc. layoffs

If you’re furloughed you’re not coming back

I’m sorry - but I can take my furloughed colleges calling to ask if I’ve heard anything. The furloughed aren’t coming back. At least not in 2020. Oh, sure, there will be exceptions. But generally, Noble is going o get smaller before it gets bigger.

I wish you all the best in future endeavors

Slightly disagree. Considering the majority of people who stayed part or full time were managers, they will definitely bring people back....but not everyone

They might as well cut the severance packages now, no tenured employee is leaving money on the table

The purpose of these furloughs, despite the drivel being spewed by HR, is Noble is hoping people will find new jobs, while on furlough, relieving Noble of any severance packages. They don't really have any intention of calling most people back.

According to what we were told at beginning of furlough, if you aren’t brought back to work in 180 days you would be severed, so don’t expect to come back in 2021.

"...this is a fundamental shift."

Yes. And typical for Noble, brought on by external forces, not from thoughtful and forward thinking management. It should be obvious by now that DS and his boys don't know how to plan, they just react. For this they are paid $millions? Clearly, the stockholders are being scammed...

The poster’s sentiment is valid. Furloughed staff positions almost certainly are not coming back prior to 2021, except for potentially small corners of the DJ. And the new org chart will be likely include further reductions, consolidations, and - in DS’s words - “right sizing” moves.

This isn’t a typical oil bust. The industry was in desperate need for years to stop destroying capital - this is a fundamental shift.

I can't understand why they'd be calling you after trying to decode this
