Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Any mass firings yet?

I was fired in auto last week for not making a phone call that I documented and made. I asked them to pull the phone records and the response was, that’s not necessary. This supposed breaking of the “code of ethics” happened 3 months ago. So, I was good to work for the company for 3 more months after them finding out about this “horrible termination only offense”. I can only assume that HR is trying to dig up bs on people and fire them so they don’t have to pay the severance? Doesn’t make sense to me otherwise. I also find it comical that Allstate wants to talk about “code of ethics”. One of the most un ethical companies I’ve ever worked for or done business with. Good riddance.

I hate the push to use aftermarket parts. I have heard of adjusters saying a customer refused aftermarket parts while that wasn't the case and got fired for it.

Just to be clear, if I noted in the file I called, I called. With as many claims as they have been throwing at us and the fact it was almost 3 months ago, I don’t remember the call. I barley remember the VA. I didn’t remember saying “it should be ok”. The mistake was, I should have lied and said I remember the call........

Your mistake was doing the right thing and authorizing OEM parts. Aftermarket parts are way cheaper (including quality.) Moreover, you prioritized the safety of the client over shareholder ROI. It is a proven fact that OEM parts hold up better than aftermarket parts in a claim. Hopefully, the next company you go to will not frown upon you for authorizing OEM parts.

Also, regarding getting an attorney, dont forget we were all required to sign a mutual arbitration agreement as condition of employment

Thats what I thought. Falsifying a claim is grounds for termination.

So basically you FALSIFIED a claim file? Sounds like termination is appropriate.

Wasn’t a customer complaint. Was during a VA with shop. Shop asked if they could use oem parts and I stated that should be fine, with the intention of calling the customer after the VA. They asked me if I called to which I stated yes if it was in the claim file but I didn’t particularly remember the call because it was 3 months and 250 plus claims ago. That was my mistake. I also should have should have told the shop my intentions of calling the customer for the approval. Is what it is now but seems like a really petty reason to fire someone. BTW, if you work VA claims, they will listen in on them live so dot every I and cross every T.

Did a customer complain about never receiving a phone call from you , which led to them looking into it ? Lots of times customers will make a comment like that on the survey.
