SPS Interview After Layoff

They made it clear that any offer from Hon SPS, whether accepted or declined, would result in ineligibility of the severance package. Thoughts on even attending an interview? Considering if they’re going to do a low ball offer just to get out of severance or if it’s a genuine interest

After I read this on paper IN WRITING... I thought about how dumb they think we are. For people with 10, 20, 30+ years... I really don’t think I can worry about getting RIFed again everyday for the next 15 years of my career. I’m going to pass on any more s. Time to see what it’s like at other companies. Severance for me please. Thank you.

I got all the way through 5 interviews, was told I was the selected candidate and got email a week later, they changed their minds...complete bs.

I was part of one of the recent RIFs in PMT. Notified on a Monday and was told if I wanted to try for an internal position I needed to find something before the end of the week. I was able to get an offer by Friday and accepted it (I really needed the job). It was a lateral move and they let me keep my same salary and other benefits. It was pretty much like a transfer. However, I know of a colleague in a different round of layoffs who found an internal job but had to take a demotion in title at least (not sure if salary was lower). My understanding was that if I rejected the offer, I would have no job and no severance. If I didn’t get selected for the job I applied for, they would just continue with the termination and I could still get the severance.

HR told me if you get an offer and don’t take it, you forfeit your Severence. She said to withdraw application if you would not accept offer. All too shady for me.

@umt+15JBdzxN, @ayd+15JBdzxN. You don’t control whether they make an offer, so assume that if you accept the invitation to interview, you will lose your severance. Saw this happen to someone at my (former) site.

@umt+15JBdzxN You lose severance only if you apply and they make an offer.

Genuine interest from Honeywell!

They have a giant advantage of being able to low ball you because of the severance. Would you be able to decline a really low offer and forfeit severance?.

SPS is a down-only elevator too. Looks stable now but masks and wipes don't sell for much. All of top leadership across the company is complicit in the implosion strategy.

This begs the question. If your office is closed and there are openings in other states, do those openings count as offers? Thus you would not receive severance because of open offers from other offices?

It's probably a genuine interest on their part; paying you a salary for a year is better than paying someone else a salary for a year plus your severance.
