Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Greer engineering: 50% let go yesterday.

Only 20 engineers for whole building, all areas. Let 10 go yesterday. Special processes (thermal coatings, chemical, EDM, etc.) hit exceptionally hard. 8 of the 10 were 20+ years with Honeywell. A few of those were 30+. Quality group got hit hard too....40%.

All was involuntary

Most of maintenance let go in Greer as well. Such a shame to see so much talent walked out the door. Hard to picture how this is going to work going forward or how the site will recover from this.

They sh– canned the HR team in Greer and didn’t replace them. Pretty bad sign when you don’t even refill the people that would do the layoff. Good Engineers out the door, such a shame!

While I was a Materials & Process engineer at Engines (up until about two years ago) I worked with a number of the Greer M&PE people. Several of them were really good, and some of what was going on in Greer was state-of-the-art. Sad. Certainly glad I got out when I did, though it didn't feel like it at the time.
