Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Other companies don't operate like this!

This has been going on got 10+ years– same story "more information to come". That never has happened. Nobody ever knows - even your Manager doesn't know until the last possible moment. Then it's a forbidden topic - you're told not to discuss it with other, or you might 'impact morale' on the rest of the team/dept.

Other companies don't operate like this. Weak leadership at the top, nobody's home in HR, and your Mgmt chain is afraid of making waves and sticking out, lest they be selected next.

Pathetic all the way around.

"They weren't even discounts, and what a lack of class to charge an adjustment fee when the employment ends, not by one's own deciding."

This is probably part of leadership's new revenue strategy, in addition to saving on payroll and insurance from the massive employee surpluses, they probably figure all these laid-off employees will continue to keep their AT&T services-wireless, direct tv, etc and be be paying more as the active employee discounts will go away...kudos, cigars and back patting all around... TMo here we come

Worked for two Fortune 500 companies since I left and they were night and from att. Att is not the norm and is a cesspool. Anybody thinking of working don’t bother and run far away. There are tons of much better companies that allow you grow and actually be innovative.

Unfortunately a lot of bigger organizations do run like T.

I've had the privilege of working for a couple different organizations as I figured myself out and can attest that T isn't unique.

Most middle management and up in bigger companies play by the same set of rules, atleast the ones I've had an opportunity to experience.

I agree, after being booted on basis of longevity. I'm in an unexpected industry but overwhlemed at he way mgt communicates, my supervisor takes legit interest in his reports and the entire company treats staff like they are valuable contributors. My new employer would NEVER offer staff some fake discounts on a company service, then when you're separated, ding you with a THREE-FIGURE adjustment cost. I truly thought it was odd that the only thing ATT offered Time Warner workers were some 'discounts' on their c-appy service. Discounts? What BS. They weren't even discounts, and what a lack of class to charge an adjustment fee when the employment ends, not by one's own deciding.
