Got it two weeks ago and it only showed:
Combo tech
Splicing
Specials tech
According to our local if enough vsp are recieved and i and r techs get placed to fill those spots we may not lose anybody to a surplus!
Is anyone else getting same info from their managers or local union?

Splicing is having a Surplus next quarter.At least if you stay in Repair you can bump a Prem Tech in the worst case scenario. (It’s in District 6 contract) ask your union rep.
Stay on the payroll making your same money and put a transfer in back to repair. When they figure out in 3 months that they let to many people go.
Splicer can’t bump anyone it isn’t in the contract for them.
A lot of the pronto hires got their 20yrs in may.
SBC went on a hiring spree in the 3rd quarter of 2000. Those people will not be eligible for MR75 until then. This offer is no good to them.

There are not enough people taking VSP's, 1 per work center if your lucky. A Lot of workcenters are having 50% vsp offers. So they want 50% of those workcenters gone in the surplus. Your only safe if you see 50% of the other techs taking a VSP. This is going to be a big surplus, similar to the one that they cancelled previous. If your not the 2 or 3 at the top of the list on affected employee your chance its basically zero. Most of us affected techs will be gone by December, 90 days after the surplus announcement. Start looking for another job. I am.
