Do you think that the required training that we have completed will factor in in any way to decisions? Like for anyone that works under Saxena, there are maybe 15 courses we need to take. At this point am I wasting my time trying to take them? Maybe it's time better served on training that will apply outside of AT&T.

Hell no I'm not doing those courses until I know my fate!
Take two two people who do the same job and have the same job performance. One completed their training and one hasn’t. Yes a lot of this training over the years has been a bunch of BS, but when your manager has to answer to it, have a feeling he might want to move into self preservation mode. If one has to go and that is the only thing that is different, which one do you think would get hit unless there is some kind of favoritism in the office? Do anything you can to differentiate yourself. Don’t give them additional reasons to make it easier for them to let you go. To say otherwise Is bad advice and lack of common sense. The exception is that if you are absolutely sure you’re going to get hit...then yeah...why bother...
On a town hall a few years ago, John Donovan mentioned 3 people that were recipients of the first Nanodegrees - back when there was the big push for everyone to become a "data scientist" by 2020. Within 6 months, I know 1 of those 3 people were laid off.
Plus don't forget the red flag that doing too much training can indicate - if you have too many hours in PLE relative to your peers it indicates that you have too much free time to spend on training and not enough work. Never forget that nothing that has been gamified like PLE is for your benefit.
You can be punished for not completing them, but completing them buys you nothing. Make sure you do the training only on company time regardless of any BS they tell you about using your own time to complete training.
ProTip: most of the training has a transcript you can download so that you can let the videos play in the background while you do something more useful (like pick your nose or brush your teeth). Just skim through the transcript to answer the quiz questions at the end. Also more often then not if you get guided questions make a note of the question and answer because some form of that same question will be on the "final quiz". If you're not confident in your answers, make sure you write down how you answered each question so that you can simply try a different answer on the ones you aren't sure of.
- 87% of the training modules are gloried slide decks that introduce you to the concept but not the actual information you need to apply said concept so don't invest much effort into it.
If you want to be more strategic, find the harder modules that aren't in the mandatory courses that might help you find your next job (probably outside of AT&T) and take that training, look for side projects (probably outside of AT&T, don't waste your time with The Opportunity Marketplace) that can build those into tangible skills.

Those classes in PLE are product specific to T and won’t teach you anything you will need when you leave. You’re better off with taking classes that will get you your next job. Sign up for a nano degree. Take those classes before year end if you’re still here.
You're working for the most indebted company in America right now. Even with their wet dream projections for HBO Max to save the world, it still won't be enough. Take whatever relevant training offered and be prepared to GTFO.
It is a good idea to complete required training. It will not make a difference.

You make your own by being a responsible adult and saving for situations like loosing your job. I accessed this site to see what it was all about but the only people on here are losers. And if you don’t have sense enough to see that then losers are all you will ever be.
Don't do any of their b—s— courses until you find out what July will bring. There is no reason to do them if you are being laid off. Futz them and their stupid useless courses.

Ask anyone surplussed over the last 5 years if their training completion, badges, nanos, or any of that sh–e even came into the discussion. (Hint: it didn't).

No, it doesn't matter at all. There were people in my group surplussed in January that had completed required training in PLE for their roles, and were top performers. It all depends whether or not your manager or director likes you.
Took all the training due long before the due date, all of the 'optional but recommended' training, went above and beyond. Still got booted out the door 3/31/19.

Does not matter for the near future. Could possibly tip the scales in your rating at the END of the year vs. someone else who has/hasn't not completed training with other things fairly equal, but that's it.
They’ve already ranked you and final decisions have already been made. Hr is looking at it now.

Yes you are being naive if you think it will help keep your job. I completed all my required training while others didn't on the team including the manager and I was the one surplussed.

I am not actually behind on any training. All of my compliance ish is not due until the end of November. And I've done most of it. The rest doesn't have actual due dates.
If you do not take the required training it can and may be used against you. If you do take the training then nobody really cares and things can still be used against you. Training is for your next assignment elsewhere. Period.
