Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Where is the work going to go?

When the dust settles and the company has been down sized, is not the same amount of work going to be there with less people to do it? Just wondering if there is a plan here other than just saving money.

Free OT and will be expected. A lot of people are already doing it at the DOCs. One of the assessment questions pretty much wants to know if you are a "team player" or not.

Claims adjusters are the front line . If they’re laid off it’ll be an insane workload for those that stay. India can’t absorb or handle all that volume .

Adjustingtoreality... you have no clue. You are comparing Esurance 3k employees to Allstate's 44k employees... UHHHH do you have any idea how many more policies in force and claims are filed with Allstate vs. Esurance.. Esurance wasnt even ranked vs. Allstate being 4th. Size and scale don't compare. Esurance was losing money hand over fist. Their loss ratio was out of control.. They were losing money over a $1 paid out for every $1 taken in. Allstate's has historically been less. Esurance isn't the business model.. that's why they are no more... Get it?

Apparently a lot of it will still be up in Chicago, Ohio, NC, Idaho... 2 new giant call centers out west- then Over in Ireland and India. From what I’m reading from the Shapiro letter it really seems that Operations, Tech, ASIC and RMBC aren’t even mentioned so they must be safe this time around. And they do a lot of the agency needed work and maybe less customer focused work. As for being overwhelmed with workload, they Most likely looked at how efficient Esurance is with just over 3000 employees total....And probably one of the reasons we bought them out- to learn from the strategy... clearly our model isn’t working.... the more efficient, the less and less people they will need to get jobs done. 44,000 vs 3000 shows any company we are doing something wrong. It seems like maybe they waited a bit too long to decide the competition are years ahead of them in terms of production. If the letter shows any hints, and I’m reading into it correctly, only sales and claims are truly a big worry. Look for other positions available and maybe we will have some people stay!

The people that make this round of cuts will be doing more work with less staff. The workload was already insane. It’s an unhealthy place to work with people putting in 60 plus hours a week.
