Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Mair's latest video

I sat through the 12 minutes version, it was Mair, Marachel and some VP from transformation. I must be slowed on a Friday afternoon, there is absolutely nothing I can share with you, nothing. So some initiatives are starting, some will take longer than others, and a plug for six sigma training. Why produce these videos and say nothing of substance. They called it a deeper dive, the pool must be empty, not even tadpole. Don't smash your head on the way down.

Here is the deal, most executives have done well academically, have graduate degrees from mid to top tier schools. They also done well climbing the corporate ladder, promotion every couple years and moving to BU to BU.

But, it does not mean that they are good at leading people or technology. No school is giving out diploma in leadership, you can only earn it in the school of hard knocks. Most of these executives rode on the coattails of their corporate benefactors, claim credit from other people’s work, and run their mouths and project confidence like there is no tomorrow. Those who talk a lot will never listen, and can’t possibly be good leaders.

"Who was the VP?"

Lenny Rhee - Vice President, AT&T Communications.

You'll find him under Leonard Rhee in phone. Multi-degree from Stanford, seems knowledgable unlike Knight.

"Marachel is so eloquent. Said no one ever."

Seriously, I thought she was either drunk or on some medication.

There is no moral, but there is deep depression.

Checked out the transformation org, half are vp, avp, and director. Pretty sure they will be doing tons of grunt work to save the company (sarcasm).

Just another empire building exercise and bureaucratic regime to oppress what little talents remains. They already hired some former executives as contract experts. Be prepared to work twice as hard, doing actual deep drives with these transformation experts and explain at the 8th grade level how the network works. Feed them improvement ideas, implement actual changes, and prep them enough so they can claim credit with McFresh & others without mentioning any actual contributors.

Can’t make this stuff up. If you are new, check with your colleagues who have been here a while and they will tell the same story.

With leadership like this, this company's future is bleak indeed.
