Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Easy job = layoff

Do you have a job with dual commission? Guess what; one of the "dual" is going to go. I am apart of the compensation team for under Chow, we are looking for every role that is using a dual comp team. Service Providers, inside sales, Retail will see reductions in dual comp and then cuts. The cuts might be 3-9 months but they will happen. Global business is expected to be hit the hardest with the amount of overlays. Do not think this is done yet, it will be the next 2 years. Stankey has been heard calling this workforce 2022.

The problem with that strategy is service providers are not always ATT exclusive. Many sell other services from our competitors. ATT is better off having badged sellers that they can directly manage who are only selling their services and I think ATT knows it.

They wil use service providers as a dragnet strategy, nothing more.

The SP model is their ultimate preference. They played the dual comp game to let the SP's penetrate the accounts/teams. When SP sells it, less overhead as they have to use their owns employees to coordinate installation through cleaning up the billing. Most of their employees are previous BELL folks who have been laid off and they make about 1/2 of the pay and c-ap if any benefits. If you are in sales and didn't see this coming....even the stores need to see this coming. Not saying it is right just saying it is coming.

Hey H6si - this type of cutting is “penny wise, pound foolish”. But, that is what AT&T has become.

Dual comp can also mean positions like Select and Acquisition where they work with 3rd party solutions providers and both get paid for the sell. Both of these positions also have an Application Sales Consultant and Virtual Application Sales Consultant which each have managers and everyone is getting paid off the sale. Ex: acquisition rep sells a $1k fiber circuit and it goes goes through an SP. SP gets paid $3-4k, Acq seller gets the $1k toward their revenue bucket and can make $150-400 on it, ASC gets the revenue toward their bucket and maybe gets $20-40 on it, virtual gets same revenue for their bucket getting $10-30, each manager gets revenue for their bucket $75-100 and then it all rolls up to a director or VP/AVP meaning they paid out the first 6-8 months in revenue on commission. In most cases we are also eating about $2k in labor or more. That’s just 1 example for people that haven’t been in business sales.

Duel = multiple people paid commission for a single sale. Fairly common on large sales teams with multiple functions....

Circuit city tried this. The best sellers leave, and then revenue drops more than the payroll savings.

Just another day circling the drain with big Stank.

How about they start with the select mobility team that bugs us CSE’s for everything. They are the worst! They have the technical mobility team do all of the real work in the background and then they send the orders to solution providers. What a joke.
