here is my reasoning, I worked for HI for 20 years. No im not at the retirement age. Yes i felt they owed me something for screwing me over with lousy pay raises for nearly every year that I worked there. job market is c-ap right now, yea oh well. I will have 6 months to figure it out. Being laid off does not look as bad as being fired. perhaps if i lose the rest of my 5 brain cells I will turn around and look for another job at honeywell orrrrr find a greener pasture on the other side of the fence.
Good luck to everyone. this RIF will not be the last for HI.

@1ytp: Why do you feel the need to understand the mentality of other people? Reading your post, you decided you had to leave because it was what you needed to do for yourself and good for you. The decision of whether or not to continue to work at Honeywell is up to each individual for their own personal reasons.

I can’t say I understand this mentality, unless you’re planning to retire. When I was at HW and finally had enough, I wanted to strike before they did. You are a better candidate for another employer when you’re employed. Plus you can negotiate better and can be more selective in where you want to go. Might you miss out on potential severance? Sure. But what is worse: Not getting severance and being in a better situation with better pay, or potentially taking a new job you’re not crazy about or maybe not finding a job at all during the severance period and having little to no income?

Just start looking elsewhere and go through the motions at HW while collecting your sh–ty check. You owe them nothing.

I left on a VRIF in 2019 which I was happy about due to it coincided with my desire to retire.

I received the email approving the VRIF and then there was a meeting several days later with my director and HR where I received the severance package paperwork. You will find out your last day at this HR meeting. I reviewed the severance contract at home, signed it, scanned it and emailed it in that evening. I had the HR meeting on a Monday and my last day was Friday the same week. It turned out to be a fairly seamless process.

@Dueces No it said that HR will reach out, go over paperwork. Also it will be up to your manager to set your final date. Transition your work load etc

It's kinda like the bad TV show hell's kitchen. U cook your a– off while being screamed at and ridiculed while they just whittle down to the last contestants.
