Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Dell is all about under the radar layoffs

No mass layoffs , its always been this way . They tried the mass layoff route before and it did not work out well . Instead its been a slow trickle of layoffs since the EMC merger and we have had WFR hanging over us ever since. The layoffs continue under the radar , just enough so they dont have to make any official announcement that can effect the stock. Also they don have to file any state requirements for layoffs over a certain level.

Exactly what @iiu+15ANy92S said.

Me too. Same process. Strange meeting request from management and zoom session calendar invitation, HR joins the call and BOOM.

Well, received an email from my manager today for a late day meeting the next day wanting to discuss “some details and documentation about the business”. Sounds fishy to me. I can surmise one of two things, either getting whacked or voluntary package offer. Anyone else seeing this presently ?

I've worked for all the big tech (IBM, HP, NEC, EMC) and now Dell...and I can tell you this company has a much better culture as some of the aforementioned companies I've been at. Layoffs are part of every company, but I think Dell is doing a good job of minimizing layoffs so far. 20% change to overall Dell is coming in Q3, but we have yet to really know what that means. Hopefully there will be a lot of middle mgmt going away, and executive level fat trimming - if there are to be layoffs. In the meantime, work hard and try to stay optimistic.

Worst place I've ever worked for. The managers they have in place are micro managers, and they lead by being phony. The end result is management who stabs you in the back.

Is this a reference to actual layoffs happening now, or a culture shift?

It's starting in the UK, the EMC takeover is progressing, time served competent Dell staff and Managers being replaced by storage sales staff and managers. HPe must be rubbing their hands, #1 position up for grabs.

I completely concur with the last poster. Unfortunately, I worked at Dell as well. It was the worst experience of my entire career. Management is horrible, clueless, toxic, liars, two faced backstabbers, etc. They pretend to act like their your friend, they are not your friend. Trust no one in this company, you are on your own here.

Unfortunately, I used to work at Dell. The worst experience of my professional career. I had a coworker who called me a friend. Little did I know he was constantly sabotaging my work for his own benefit to promote himself. The sad part is, this behavior is encouraged by the management. On my last day, my "new" manager told me he wished I had started under him so he could help me successfully navigate the toxic Dell culture. Live and Learn!

A State of "The Nile" continues to exist with some who attack the credibility of contributors to the site relative to Dell's long term growth strategies (i.e. Acquisitions and WFRs.

Going forward please contact your Dell Managers / Executives to provide you with an honest assessment on Dell.

This is K School think thought process approach. Any genius would know that you do not buy EMC and then roast marshmellows around the Campfire while singing kum ba ya and drinking the kool aid that no WFRs will result.

This site is abused with BS rumors and is unreliable at best. Look back over previous posts that claimed to know about upcoming layoffs - most were untrue. This site is good for spreading the word 'after the fact'.

Dell was constantly canning people in waves the entire 4 years I worked there. Worst place I have worked in my career.
