Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Paranoid.....

Maybe i am being paranoid, but I've heard a lot more references at the Sr. Director and Director level of 'belt tightening' and other cost savings efforts being ratcheted up in the coming months, and those references always include a mention of layoffs. I'm playing amateur psychologist here, and again probably a bit paranoid, but I am wondering if this is an effort to soften the blow....to make it feel like or seem like we are at least somewhat prepared when it goes down.

Does anyone know if in the past 'mass' layoffs have been mid-quarter or after a quarter end?

All the "Directors" do are attend zoom meetings all day, and make life for the engineers harder.

I was laid off earlier this year. TBH it's the best thing that could have happened to me, the dumbing down of the role and becoming subservient to the EMC management and sales teams has ruined what was a superb company to work for. I bear them no grudges, they treated me well whilst I was there. I hope they plough through this with minimal losses, the people at the coal face are great, it just seems to get worse the higher you go up.

Constant trickle of layoffs has indeed been the rule. EMC did some large scale layoffs and as mentioned Dell did that initially but now it’s a few people here, a few there. Wound up being a good thing for me a few years back.

No mass layoffs , its always been this way . They tried the mass layoff route before and it did not work out well . Instead its been a slow trickle of layoffs since the EMC merger and we have had WFR hanging over us ever since. The layoffs continue under the radar , just enough so they dont have to make any official announcement that can effect the stock. Also they don have to file any state requirements for layoffs over a certain level.
