Union has to be notified a Quarter in advance of a lay-off for bargained for employees on District 9. Union notified 2nd Quarter (April-May-June) for layoffs / surplus in 3rd Quarter (July-August-September). Soonest a layoff will occur for bargained for employees is July 1st.

It would be nice if they just announced them all, locations and final dates all at once every year. This quarter by quarter stuff has always s—ed a–.

never seen a more wasteful company just having people hanging around waiting for something to do and seeing who is going to get the surplus. why do they hire so many people? can't they make do with who they have? don't they know how to inspire and manage people?
att just seems like a waste of time and ones life.

To make matters worse, the VP level retirements announced last week and the upper management reorgs that follow have no effective dates. The timeline is still unclear. But Sorabh did send a us a word salad about the triad of value, customer success obsessed culture, and zero distance.
Be sure to add those 3 gems to your Corporate BuSh Bingo Card.

Depends on your union- I know our Union has Quarterly Dates that they can announce layoffs- we just passed the 6/15 date- If they don't get enough, they can announce a surplus or VTP or both on 09/15. If your non-union or Management- Your employment is at will and they can do it whenever. Good luck

Suspect layoffs will be coming in waves thoughout the rest of the year.. I suspect it works like this .

New leadership -> reOrg > see what divions most profitable or growth which are most expensive or no growth -> make a list. Check it twice -> pass layoff orders down stream to first level managers (unless entire departments are getting exed,). All that takes time..

The reason these layoffs will continue FOREVER, or at least until we are rid of Ratty, Stinky and the Board of Misdirectors, is that HR cannot physically wack the numbers of people the misfits want too all at once. They systems would choke and die.

Maybe they are doing it quietly to avoid as much news coverage as they can. The lack of transparency (leadership should note: just saying your being transparent does not mean you are) shows how little concern there is for the mental health, productivity or loyalty even of those who survive this round. They will reap what they sow.
